Re: DWEEZLE'S BACK!!
Well that was interesting.
I drove out to Whoop Whoop Greenlands which took forever.
Found the house and Mohammed greeted me
Nice enough bloke, did not know much about cars though.
Anyways, i had a bit of a look over it, it was pitch black with my phone as light.
I found a bunch of issues but nothing looked like a deal breaker.
Popped the bonnet and was quietly surprised!!
Lets see who picks the SURPRISE under my NA6 bonnet
OHH YEAH!!! 1.8 BABY!!!
Biggest bad point is what appears to be a cracked/broken accelerator/brake panel bit.
I have read of a few cars having this issue where the metal has fatigued and cracked.
Gonna Speak to BENSALE! I believe he has had this issue before.
Making my list of things to fix which include.
-Battery Tie Down
-Correct style Battery
-Gear Shift boots
-Gear knob
-Replace cluster (horrible Blue lights and white faces) Will go back to stock
-Remove immobilisor as it looks dodgy and i do not trust them
-New Rotors and Pads
-Bleed clutch
- Sort out broken electric window panel
I am sure there will be a few more things to add.
Will have a better go through tomorrow.
Very excited.
1.8 changes my plans quite a bit!!
More pics.
YUP 18's BABY!!! HAHA
Horrible Cluster
Broken Window
Broken gear knob
Tombstone looks ok but aircon control is missing a few bits.
Battery tie down missing
Can someone confirm if this is a 1.6 Diff or 1.8?
Tan interior to be gone!!
CUSCO COILOVERS
Not sure if i will use these or not.
Overall i am pretty happy at the moment.
the hardtop is in pretty decent nick with a demister also.
Can not wait to get some time to get underway.
Will fix everything first then begin the Build.

Welcome back !
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: DWEEZLE'S BACK!!
oh wow, a pretty decent pickup apart from the wheels and taillights. I saw it on ebay and was wondering what surprises the buyer would find. But it did go for such a reasonable price. Hardtop, 1.8 and a bunch of random bits and pieces all over the place.
Should be fun to own since there could be a few more hidden surprises once you take it apart.

Re: DWEEZLE'S BACK!!
Yeah, honestly i did not know it had a 1.8 till i popped the bonnet.
Looks like it was done well too.
All Flyin Miata Throttle body spacer etc.
I only have like 40% throttle from in the car with the broken accelerator though!

Re: DWEEZLE'S BACK!!
Grooooooooooooss, those "hypnotic" wheels have been making their way around... Seen them on commo's around Geelong. They're even tackier than they look too, apparently the black bits are hex key and come off so you can spray them the same colour as your car. Sometimes I really don't want to be part of this world anymore...
Will be rad to see how this car ends up though!

Re: DWEEZLE'S BACK!!
Bugger . Thought as much.. Thanks Dann for the bad news!! Haha
Yeah the wheels are truly gross.
Hopefully ebay will sell them for me.
Going to do a big clean on the car today and try to loose the weird strong smell of (not quite sure whAt that is) that burns the nostrils inside.

Re: DWEEZLE'S BACK!!
I just found a pile of rotting peanuts under the seat of my MX5 when I bought it.
oh, and coffee spilled into EVERY crevice on the console.
The Mondeo just had tampons and blister cream....... I don't even want to know.

Re: DWEEZLE'S BACK!!
Alright.. Operation fix this piece of crap has begun.
In the freezing cold my Girlfriend and i moved the car out of the garage and upto ground level for a bit of a clean up and a look in day light.
Decided to pull most of the interior out as there was a pretty bad Cigarette smell and another almost as bad floral smell.
My brother let me use a spare Na seat he had lying around so i could lose the Tan seats and Tan carpet.
We found a few interesting things in the car.
Top of the odd list was a miniature copy of the Koran.
Have not found that before.
Another cool find under the carpet was all the original log books and paperwork for the car!!
Will have to have a good look through it all.
Might be interesting.
Gave it a good vacuum and clean.
Car interior looks so much better!!!!
Could not believe what 30 mins can do to a cars appearance.
Verified that the accelerator pedal mount is cracked so will have to sort a replacement or maybe it can be welded?
Also the gear shift is WOEFULL!! Like hard to explain how bad it is.
Turns out all the Rubber boots are basically gone, and it is a Short shift stick of some sort which is worn out.
Hopefully a new shifter and boots will be all that is needed there.
Might order this sexy beast!!
Gave the outside a wash and quick claybar too.
Sitting outside had been a little tough to the old girl.
She still needs a good cutting agent and wax and i think it will come up pretty good.
The plastic nose as always is the most faded.
Ohh yeah.. Another thing.
I realised why it looked so odd on the parcel shelf.
THERE IS NO SOFT-TOP !!
That is ok.
I have always wanted to run without a soft top just was too soft to do it.
Now it has been forced on me!!
Emily has super nicely offered for a small fee some OEM gauge faces and green lights to hopefully fix up my cluster!
Now to find someone with a super cheap set of 4x100 wheels with tyres that the car can even just sit on so i can get rid of these bloody things ASAP.
I ended up chucking the parcel shelf carpet, floor mats and boot carpet into the bath for a bit of a DETOX.
My god were they filthy!
At the end of it all, threw my brothers spare Black Hardtop he has floating around onto the car.
Much better

Re: DWEEZLE'S BACK!!
Are you keeping the tan interior?
Personally I really like the tan interior on the NA, when well kept it looks great (looks nice with red too)
As for the pedal, they can be welded as a temporary fix, but to date I've not seen one that's been welded and been "great" they tend to just turn out "less sh*t"
If you can't find a replacement pedal box, get it welded, then try to pack out the gap between the firewall and the accelerator bracket. There's a gap there that lets the box flex a bit, packing it out with some wood or something should brace it enough to stop most of the flex (meaning it will feel better, and be less likely to make the welds crack from fatigue)
