A little update with my life with the roadster.

Sadly due to work I've missed out on natmeet and track days. Nevertheless I've started to like my mx5 more and more.

Thornleigh macdonalds before a run north at 2am, the cold breeze with the top down, just amazing:

Off to hunter valley for 3 days, luckily all three days me and miss's only saw sunshine

Haven't really done mods to the car, but changed tyres to Pirelli Pzero rosso in 225 45 17s, normal driving similar to my previous Potenza re050; I feel there is more grip in both wet and dry, that being said the pzero's are running a wider width compared to the 205 re050s. Overall happy with the widened width.

Another exciting thing is I've ordered a kakimoto exhaust from Japan

on the ship!!! Can't wait..

looks hot man!! love the ce28. you thinking of painting them?

also, can you tell me a little more about your bucket seat? is the airbag light on? does the airbags still work? my next mod will be a race seat I'm slipping everywhere in the leather.

Bucket seat; the airbags are actually in the seat, therefore you will have no side airbags. To prevent the check light on your dash you'll need a resistor (I think 8ohms).

Mounting the seat on the stock rails will increase the height. Best way is to buy rails that suite the seat and our nc's. Use nengun.com and look through yahoo auctions Japan for second hand rails.

On the other hand, great job on the SC!! So jealous!!

I've also recently installed the kakimoto R exhaust

I'll take some pictures soon! They weigh 9kgs which is a little lighter than stock.

Sound: loud! Drones a little at 3000rpm but bearable, similar droning to the roadstersport 2 duals without baffles.

Looks: 2 x 100mm pipes :p aggressive! I like! But not everyone's cup of tea

A month ago I picked up the cobalt cold air duct from Phil to go with my Hks intake! Works well! Have also made a custom heat shield, which means my intake should be a cold air intake now lol!!

Hopefully be at the next mx5 track day

Have also recently installed a 4.1 final gear ratio, $370 for the ring and pinion from another forum member, $750 installed at MX5 mania. It really does feel better in acceleration, car is more "willing"

Project dynamat:

1. Dynamat purchased from eBay shipped from the US.
2. Purchase heat gun from bunnings, $30

Before the application, I googled "nc mx5 sound deadening" and looked through the results. A lot of people have detailed descriptions on how to remove the interior trim.

The PRHT has a big piece of bare metal behind the seats, thE fact that it is bare metal with carpet on top annoyed me.

Total dynamat weight used: 7.2kgs

Stripped out interior

1/3 done, I used a roller so it sits flush with the surface.

Results:
Quieter.. But not by much lol.. Exhaust volume reduced by a little, drone reduced a lot, no idea about road noise intake and exhaust over powers it.

Tips:
Be careful of the wires, they are delicate so do not apply direct heat to it.

Duration:
10 hours.

Hopefully you haven't put your car back together. A trick I learnt from a sound guy is to use quality carpet underlay - that really blocks out road noise. Dynamat stops panel reverb so you get better sound quality, but it does little to block out the other noise which affects sound quality.

It was a ghetto install just to prove a point that you can have quality sound on a budget.
