Re: Engine performance upgrade
My '2f legal' front running full built N/A 1.8 engine produces 180rwhp on a dyno dynamics dyno.
The 180rwhp peak is not the number to look for its the huge gain in torque over std thats impressive

How many hours is it rated for though? From what I heard most of Gary Stewart engines are about 30 hours in "2f legal" form.

Mine has similar characteristics. It makes 140rwkw (187rwhp) at 7500, but at 4800rpm its already making 105rwkw (140rwhp), and the torque curve is very broad.

Re: Engine performance upgrade
speaking of mods,
my na8 is very basic. 4-2-1 extractors, 2.5' exhaust, mania cold air.
also have a straight through pipe for track so remove the rear muffler. more for hecktic noise, bro!
the car has suspension mods, good tyres and pads and roll cage.
very basic mods and my best at wakefeild is a 1.12.8.
my first time at wakie in the mx5 was hand timed doing a mid 1.16. mind u it had standard intake and exhaust at that time.
while its quick for what it is, the other mx5 challenge cars run from 1.08 to 1.10 with rebuilt motors etc.
im at this point where i'll get an ecu to fine tune the most of the power it makes. hopefully then with better track conditions i'll be looking at low 12s high 11s
so as others have said, do basics, drive the sh*t out of it and fine tune the suspension and tyres and driving style!

Re: Engine performance upgrade
Wozzah's cams.
My exhaust...
Works engineering intake (awesome price, ask mania for it or PM me)
Get in a car with yellowspeeds first.
Get whatever dished wheel, quick release, pedal covers, seat mounts etc that make the car just perfect driving position for you.

Re: Engine performance upgrade
Why can't you drive the car on red P plates?
The yellowspeeds are ok if your on a small budget, if your not there is better available.
Don't go the Federal semis, you would be better on some Dunlop Starspecs (Z1) that are classed as S specs with a rating of 300.

I didnt have the car when I took the test, which was in an auto, so I cant drive a manual by myself untill I get my green p's, when the RTA thinks that I am now magically able to drive a manual.

Re: Engine performance upgrade
If you do the test again with a manual it removes the restriction.
