Nasty. In hindsight, arm restraints, nets would have helped. Bit hard to keep the body 'inside' the car of a convertible.

C'mon, tell us all what we want to know about the driver.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

That his arm was shattered and had to be pinned together and that he later said he has not been put off at all and will be back on track?

It was his first race ever to.

So now I'd love someone to tell me about arm restraints.

The best sort are stitched in to your overalls. Most manufacturers can provide the service, it needs to be done properly with flame retardent thread and material.

The seperate sort that go around your arm can be annoying. To tight and they are uncomfortable, to loose and they will slip down and you will be pushing them up all the time.

I always thought that if your car has a full cage you can have a window net in the door area and another window net over your head? If you needed to exit through the top of the car it should not impede you to much especially if you got one with the push button release.

Hard top of little or no use in these circumstances?

Not sure, there is footage on youtube of all sorts of spec miata crashes where the roof stays on. I guess it depends on how well it is bolted to the car. I think they are not allowed to just use the standard latches.

The cage in this car was too tall to use the OEM hardtop.
