Don't really have set budget but don't want to waste cash obviously so just after the good gain mods..
Wakefield times I'd like the car to be capable of 6's or there abouts.
Anything else from my list I should consider ?

Truthfully. Take the advice listed. Get a extinguisher, entry level roll bar such as a brown Davis, service the car and go driving. Add bits as you go.

You want a T28 on a reliable log manifold a 2.5 inch free flowing dump and exhaust and a decent sized intercooler.
RX7 550cc injectors and an ecu.
You will need a clutch also.
You also need a 6 speed and a torsen or clutch diff.
A decent set of coilovers obviously and matching sways, sways come with trial and personal preference.
You need 15x8 6UL wheels and some Soft compound R specs.
Tear all the interior out including softtop, get a hardtop.
You need a 6-8'' splitter that goes back to the subframe at least.
You want a GTC 200 or 300 wing.
Of course you will need a reroute and a 42mm+ alloy radiator with GOOD ducting.
You need to get some good brake pads and disks something like carbotech XP10s or Hawk blues. Someone recommend him some disks.
RBF600 brake fluid.
Race seat and safety gear.
Pretty sure I didnt miss anything.

I'm not interested in Internet wank contests at all lol just after some good advice on the things to do to get my mx5 setup well.
I am enjoying the cost effective prices for mx5 gear compared to the cost involved inn building my Lotus.
The philosophy for this car is bang for buck fun but I ain't going to be happy with 100rwhp. 200-250rwhp will be great to wake the car up and give me the fun im looking for.

They are pretty quick out of the box. Some semi slicks and decent brake pads on the standard brakes, plus removing unneeded stuff will be a quick little car.

It's an absolute blast to drive too, because you are pretty much always flat on the go pedal!

But now I'm really focused on building a street/track car as I dont want the hassle of towing car to track and not get the use out of it as much if it was street registered.
Its a import and can't be regestered so now my NB8 project will start and I can enjoy the car regularly and get more out of my investment.

OK then, the traditional method with MX5s is to get them to really handle first, learn to drive them that way and then work on the power.
If you're ultimately going turbo then do the suspension to suit that. That means:
- Quality coilovers with springs around 8Kgmm/5Kgmm, 9/6, 10/7, even 14/10 except it's almost impossible on the street. Lots of discussions about brands on this site. Speak to Fulcrum.
- Stock sway bars will do if the springs are stiff enough. Even no sway bars for 14/10 springs. Refer FatCAt Mortorsports spreadsheets for setup calcs.
- Enough work on suspension bushings, etc to get you up round -2.5/-2.0 camber F/R with ride heights around 310-315/315-320 F/R measured hub to wheel arch. Some cars can get there on stock bushings, some need a superpro offset set or mods to control arms. Again speak to Fulcrum.
- LSD diff inset. Plenty of discussion here around Mazda torsens and aftermarket plate systems.
- Strut braces are unnecessary. MX5s don't have strut suspension. All the geometry is built into the control arms and sub-frames, not the strut towers.
- Big brake kit and appropriate pads and rotors if your regs allow it. Check Good-Win racing, 949racing. Willwood MX5 brake bias adjuster kit.
- 15x8 +30ish. Make sure they fit over the BBK.
That should get you started with something that can match an Elise on the shorter tracks. They'll still run away from you on long straights after hairpins with their power to weight advantage though but you can get back under them under brakes.

Hopefully you're getting the gist of what people are saying above. Learn to drive a standard car fast (like, you can match the local club's standard class track records), then worry about spending money on mods. A standard car is just as much fun, even if slower.
The basics of safety and regulatory requirements is all you should spend money on upgrading. The rest should be spent on track time, tyres, brake pads and fuel.
