Hello All.
I have just noticed a weird noise coming from the drivers size rear suspension or wheel.
It is definitely something the is effected by the rotation or the wheel so i am not sure what it is.
it makes a faint noise while just driving normally but as soon as I disengage the clutch to come to a halt it gets noisier.
it sounds like if you one a card strumming the spokes on a bike but only on about 4 spokes. so its quite then 4 or 5 fast noises and it gets slower as the speed does.
What do you think it could be? Wheel bearing maybe?

Jack up that side of the car and spin the wheel by hand. Grab the wheel and wobble it around too.

Re: weird noise from rear suspension/wheel
ok new symptom.
while the noise still gets faster with the speed of the wheels i am not sure its the wheel bearings any more.
under acceleration the noise goes away and when i just let it roll the noise comes back.
while i am slowing down and coming up to some lights i put the brakes on a bit firmer the noise goes away then when i get off the brakes its comes right back.
after hearing the noise a bit more it almost sounds more like a rubber bushing or something. i have no idea what it could be.
any ideas?

Re: weird noise from rear suspension/wheel
I would have my money on diff noises, as it sounds similar to what I had with mine. Jack the car up, put it on stands and have a good pull and tug of everything down there, and see what makes noises. Also turn wheels. As a last resort you could jack up all four corners and put on jack stands and start the car and put it into first or second gear to see if you can replicate the sound. But this is really quite dangerous to do.

On overrun, its the diff bearings failing.

Re: weird noise from rear suspension/wheel
i checked out the cv boots and they are in tact.
i have sprayed everything underneath bar the brakes so should find out if its a suspension squeak or if its something internal like a bearing.

Re: weird noise from rear suspension/wheel
ok wd did not work. i get a feeling its the diff. it doesn't seem consistent enough for the wheel bearing.
anyone know a good diff shop?

I'd recomend a mate of mine, but he has shut up shop in the last 3 months.
I want to get my 4.1fgr installed... If u find a good shop post it up
MY07 NC, Mazdaspeed Body, Ohlins, Full GWR Exhaust, 17x9 RPF1's, 4.1FGR and lots lots more
