that's a high indicated boost for just the smaller SC pulley - are you running standard JRSC belt tensioner or the Track Dog or similar modified SC belt tensioner?

I understand the boost figure looks high , but that is at at close to 8000rpm [ frighting to be in the dyno room at those revs and the supercharger on full song
but will post more soon as i get it back and re run it on the dyno with the
new gears.

Hi Ive owned several MX5s and never thought of supercharging till now. Yeah I know!! Ive read a article on the Cosworth Supercharger and it sounds great, although expensive can anyone advise a novice to supercharging Im looking to buy a softtop 2009-10 model.

I've been umming and ahhing for a long time now. I now have the funds to go ahead but want to do it right and will not rush things
At the moment I'm leaning towards the Rotrex (Bulletcars) solution and the other option I'll consider is the FFS package

I'm not here for max power but I'd be happy with around 130 kW atw

Now I own a 2001 model with vvt and currently I'm sitting at approximately 60 000 km's

Would it be a good idea to do the 100 000 km service at the same time?

Anyone recommend any installers in Perth?

Finally, anyone have any experience in Perth?

Looks like I'll be spending around $8000 (6000 for kit, 1000 for install, 1000 for major service). Is that a good estimate?

I am also considering to go down this path , of a supercharger install.
Love the install of the unit in the NC. So simple and ticks all the boxs for performance gain and reliabilty
Just a couple questions. ( Il do some research tomorrow ) just interested if any one knows.
Are the insurance companies savage with the increase of their rates due to the install of SC.
What is required for the RTA. do they need to be notified and what sort of fees.
Any other fees and or costs apart from the engineer cert. and install labour.

You would need a engineers report to certify that the installation is safe and the car still meets emissions regs, this would the the minimum required. Talk to an engineer and see what they would like you to do.

I'm currently researching a supercharger install in my NB8A and spoke to a local engineer/signatory here in Bathurst.

For the NB8A he reckons it's a piece of cake because there are already two "factory" versions of forced induction NB's and these effectively set the engineering standard. It won't help you with an NC though.

All he suggested I upgrade was the brakes to the NB8B/SE standard. I asked about emissions testing and he said it's a standard four gas test (what ever that is) and I believe it can be done in his workshop.

A ballpark cost for certification for my NB was around $1000.

It almost sounds too good to be true, so I'm continuing with my research to double check. I'll probably talk with another engineer and see if I get a similar story.

Deckspeed Racing completed a NC Supercharger install today and it produced 160.5 KW at the rear wheels,power came on smooth through the whole rev range. Used Dynotronics latested supercharger reflash in the ECU. The Supercharger can develope 190KW for the track with a different tune.
Installing another Supercharger next week. The happy owner will be posting the Dyno results.

This is all true and fantastic on the new system, on top of that if another car with the same mods has been tested and passed, so will yours, no BS, it just passes based on previous standards.

The way the SC fits so well to the car, it looks almost stock, and the transparency of it in normal driving really makes this mod something that is a "smart" upgrade. And with the right tune, and the right knowhow there's obviously plenty of potential
