Floor Mounted Pedal Box
Has anybody installed an aftermarket floor mounted pedal box? I'm looking at cleaning up the engine bay, especially relocating the clutch/brake cyclinders so that I have options to install an air box on the ITB's that I am looking at.

Re: Floor Mounted Pedal Box
Don't know about pedal boxes. A few have De powered the brakes to a cleaner space. Replacing the bias valve also helps.

Re: Floor Mounted Pedal Box
Well I have started the ball rolling on doing this when I change the engine later on in the year as this would be the best time. However it will come down to dollars verse benefit, if the ITB’s and air box can fit without this mod then it moves to the would be nice to do list, but, if the air box won’t fit it moves to the ‘must have list’ and I have to either find the dollars or cull something.
The idea came from here http://bankruptcy.combustionpunks.co.uk/improving-my-brakes-and-emptying-the-engine-bay-more/ when I was searching for engine bay room etc.

Itbs and air box should fit (mine do) will really come back to trumpet length as what "fits" Lol could spark new "fitment" arguments.

Re: Floor Mounted Pedal Box
A floor mounted pedal box works best when you have a floor and firewall that meet at right angles and make a box shape for the foot well. You might find in an MX5 that the floor is only flat enough for it to work to far back in to the cockpit for you to be able to sit comfortably.

Re: Floor Mounted Pedal Box
Import a left hand drive miata then! Won't give you a pedal boxes but lots of intake room. Or go the nc engine

Re: Floor Mounted Pedal Box
There are a lot of rules regarding peddle box placement in cams - most of them pretty ambiguous. So from a racing legality point of view, it could be an epic pain in the ass.
you could just get something like this:

or this

Re: Floor Mounted Pedal Box
Another option could be to move the reservoirs to the other side of the car. Anyway, thanks for the advice and it may not be a legal modification anyway hence would not be done. Also thanks Plohl I did not consider the CAMS issue as I still haven’t decided if I want the car to be log booked.
NC is possibly on the cards, I just need to convince my other half that she would enjoy driving one. I have already planted the seed of replacing the Kia Grand Carnival with a NC and her using the 800M as the family car (now that son has his own car).

Re: Floor Mounted Pedal Box
The NC would be as well as, it means that I have to get rid of the 30X when my oldest son gets another car as well as sell the Fiat X1/9 (when the rust has been cut out, it will be sold as an ongoing restoration project) and the Kia Grand carnival. This way the house will have my NA, her NC and the 800M as the family car.
