Hawk Pad Advice

Hi,

Im after some advice on what pads would suit my needs. I'm planning on doing around 6-8 track days a year with the rest weekend driving. My main issue is life, performance, and dust, sortof in that order.

I'm currently leaning towards hawk performance ceramic, does anyone have any ideas/ suggestions against other models ie hps, hp+ etc?

I run Hawk hp+ pads. They are really good, but just as dusty.

Running HP+

screeches when cold, not confidance inspiring when cold, heaps of dust.

if you can get over that for the street, the are an absolutly awesome pad fro the track. no fade even after 8 laps with braking from 170 down to 70.

Agreed; I've previously had the A1RM and they would suit your intended usage pattern of weekend drives and track days. Fairly easy to live with and from memory weren't too hard on rotors.

I've put the Hawk Performance Ceramic on my wife's car as I abhor the black wheel syndrome that plagues European cars. The Hawk Ceramic pads are a premium road pad that can also be used for the occasional track day. The A1RM would be a better track day pad though.

As far as road pads go, wife didn't notice any difference between the Hawk and the std BMW issue. They are low dust and the dust they generate is a light brown in colour, so is essentially imperceptable. As with all ceramic pads, they are very kind on the rotors.

Ok, i'm leaning towards HPS atm as they seem to hold up better on the track. I assume that this means longer life?

How often do you think I would have to change pads with the occassional track day?

Hawk sell HP+ as a street/track pad where HPS is just a street pad. Personally I've had no problems with dust and noise with HP+, but I've got a pretty high tolerance for dust.

Try Carbotech Pads next time, less dust, better disc life.

I've bought from that seller before. He's been cheap and pretty good to deal with.

yea its ridicolous how expensive things here are compared to overseas. Did it really take a month for postage?

3 weeks. It's a problem. I do try to avoid buying from the States because their mail services are 3 times slower, 3 times more unreliable and 3 times more expensive than anywhere else.

For reference hp+ dust like mofos.

The polished lip on my Meisters turn brown/ look bronzed after a couple of days of daily driving
