NA8C Torsen 4.1 LSD Diff into NA6 5spd

Postby gslender » Tue Jul 03, 2012 7:32 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know if you can install a NA8C Torsen 4.1 LSD Diff into NA6 with a 5spd from a NB8?

I've got a NA6 which has now got a NB8 5spd gearbox with original NA6 Open diff.

Was told that you can install the NA8C Torsen 4.1 LSD Diff without needing to replace tail and half shafts etc.

True/False????

If true, is it a stronger diff and read end?

I am pretty sure the torsens only came in a 7" diff - so my guess is yes, you will need to change the half shafts and drive shaft

^ I agree. The type of gearbox you have doesn't impact on whether or not you have to change the driveshafts and half shafts when upgrading from a 6" to 7" diff. Going from 6" to 7" you need to replace the whole lot.

Sure, I wasn't expecting the gearbox to be the only factor, was just including all potentially relevant information given I'm unsure what aspect of diff swap results in the tail shaft needing to be changed.

Cool - so general consensus seems to say that the diff will still require half-shafts and tail-shafts.

Thanks.

while we're on topic

is there 7" 4.3:1 crown gears available? or are they all 4.1 or taller?
