intercooler pipework

I had given up on turbo mainly because I've got a front swaybar brace which restricts room for intercooler. While trolling I found in one of fatty's posts.

It looks a simple way around the problem. Has anyone done this and if so what would an engineer say about it?

So sexy - I love the reroute / intake routing solution. A lot of neat custom work there. Though the distance from the rear of the head to the thermostat housing is somewhat more than recommended.

They make one for the NB8B (M-Tuned), but in reality the NB8B reroute is easier anyway as the coil pack is not in the way. Most people use a Kia thermostat housing and relocate the thermostat to the rear of the head, then use a BMW remote thermostat to do the job of the M-Tuned housing. Much cheaper than the M-Tuned kit and just as effective. Search m.net and/or mt.net for more details.

Dann may well use the same technique on earlier model cars too, but it is only really possible if you have a COPS style ignition or some other way to get the coil pack out of the way. EDIT: At least I THINK this is the case... it's been a while since I messed with one of these. I know there is stuff all room down there with the CP in place but there is nothing stopping you relocating it.

Ive no idea what you are talking about.

Zossy mentioned how the thermostat was a long way away, it is, I just said that I leave the thermostat at the rear, its a sh*t spot to work on but thats how i prefer it.

Everyones different.

At OP, how about intercooler piping over the radiator?

the only way i could do my cooler piping was to remove my aircon. it hadn't worked in ages anyway. with the aircon compressor removed there's just enough room to put cooler piping down there.

Either way, im pretty sure i could fabricate a solution that didnt involve cutting, can you take some photos an give some measurements and ill suggest how id do it.
