ILLAWARRA CHAPTER - IT'S OFFICIAL!!!

Great news! After all our efforts over the last couple months to get it up and running, the MX-5 Club of NSW has tonight formally ratified Illawarra as an official Chapter of the club. Peter Feutrill (monte5) is the interim Convenor and we've already mapped out a full calendar of events and monthly dinner meetings up to the end of 2012. Please check the Events Calendar on the MX-5 Club of NSW website and look for the events marked in red & white (could there be any other colour choice?). Wherever possible, we'll be linking up with appropriate Sydney events (eg Xmas in July), but will also be organizing plenty of our own unique events, being mindful not to clash with the Sydney calendar. Very happy to have made it to this stage. :mrgreen:

Likewise, it's often a lot easier getting to Illawarra from southern sydney than to everywhere else in Sydney :mrgreen:

It should a great success just like our Hunter Chapter....

Maybe we can do a challenge / inter club get together weekend.

We try and get to the Illawarra region regular for family, so maybe catch up on one of the runs. fter then a drive back via the concrete jungle M7 M2 F3.

Mark - I'm definitely keen to see more interaction between the Chapters so we'll keep your suggestion in mind for our next round of event planning. I reckon a meet-up at Bathurst would be ideal, with Illawarra getting there via Goulburn & Taralga, and Hunter using the Bylong Valley Way. Then a day exploring the Central Tablelands with Tony King's assistance (ref CTW Event), and then return home on day three.

Our first weekend away will probably head south and would be potentially of interest to Canberra Chapter and Eastern Victoria Chapter, in addition to the cluster of NSW members around Batemans Bay.

Another concept I'm gestating upon is a biannual "StateMeet" where all the NSW Club Chapters can gather and enjoy some friendly inter-Chapter competition in the manner of NatMeet. Hold it in the year between NatMeets in a regional area, much like Hunter currently does with the biannual long weekend trip to Central West. Just a "blue sky" idea at the moment though.

Great stuff!! I let my membership lapse due to the distance involved going to the runs but I have now rejoined with the wife and hope to attend most Illawarra runs and meetings together with my neighbour who recently bought a 2005 SE.

That's what I like to hear, John! Is your neighbour Brendan? If so, he's on our chapter committee so you should get in his ear about events you'd like to see. Better still, you could help out too. :lol:
