pros and cons i guess mate.
with that combo, <20km/h in 2nd was bouncy so pretty much forget 2nd in a carpark... yet i was addicted with how quickly it would build rpm. i guess if i had to do it again, based on driveability id go hd clutch with machined standard flywheel.
just makes for easier driving in traffic, carparks etc.

anyone have experience with a xtreme hd ?
its over $50 cheaper than the exedy hd..

ive also been told to steer away from there standard kit.

Exedy HD or Xtreme HD is the question.
One is $50+ cheaper but the other from what I gathered seems to be 'better' I understand its the more popular one but is it worth it?

If it were me, I'd spend the $50 on the more well known one.

If one has plenty of happy customers and good reports, vs one with much fewer customers and reports, I'll generally go wiht the one with more support.

fit for purpose. A standard clutch will handle normal wear and tear and last a long time. Possibly anything with HD or exteme attached to it may have a heavier action ie heavier clutch plate springs etc. Ask the distributor of Exedy to give an overview or a recommendation.

If a credible member says it's fine for a turboed car, I think it would be good enough for you.
You are over thinking it, though I understand you are on a budget, fifty bucks is sh*t either way.

I like my exceedy sports tuff clutch I've had it for 60 k km now. It's easy to press the pedal and you can feel it bite the fly wheel and has enough give to ride the clutch in traffic. I also have a 9 pound cro mo fly wheel, I like it it makes the car rev happy its more fun to drive both track and street. Within a week or two you get used to it and I haven't stalled it in ages not even in revese at the car park. I don't mind if I have lost torque I didn't feel it (nb8b), I can change gears quick enough and it's so easy to rev the car and get the power I want

I don't think you can safely make a stock fly wheel 9 pounds and drill large holes off the outer edge of it, I'm not sure if you will notice that much difference if you shave 1 - 2 kg off a stock flywheel. From what I've gathered that method gives a fairly subtle difference.

I didn't mind the cost I use it every day, i saved money by installing it myself (with the help of forum friends).

I made a clutch install thread a while back, there is a pic of my act flywheel somewhere, I think my flywheel was 4.239 kg in comparasion stock is almost double at 7.803 kg. the moi "moment of inertia" is even less again because all the weight was removed off the peripheral edge with giant holes near the edge of the flywheel. This calculation is probably more important than the total mass because it's the moi that really gives you the rev happy feeling.

I found a clutch install easier and more straight forward than a timming belt change.... Maybe you could give it a go??

So I just spoke to Exedy, and apparently (for the 1.6L at least) the friction disc between the OEM and the HD is the same; its the pivot point in the pressure plate that changes. The guy said that it is engineered so that pedal feel is the same between the two. He also said that the only reason you would need a HD over an OEM is if you were towing, or if you had many killer wasps under the hood. So, for my 70kW car which isn't towing anything, OEM seems to be the way to go?? Thoughts?

I would agree, no need to spoil daily driving with an unnecessarily heavy clutch. I speak from experience, I'm waiting for my HD clutch to wear our so I can go back to OEM equivalent!

I'd always "upgrade" where possible, especially if there wasn't a big price difference.

I've just got my new clutch and flywheel fitted at Mania and LOVE it. It's the Flyin' Miata Happy Meal which I bought in the group buy and it actually feels lighter than OEM.

I will be fitting an Xtreme HD clutch and Cro-Mo flywheel into the Integra at Mania so it will be interesting to see how different that feels.
