mitch027 wrote:goodwin now begun selling a "street" header

this is with a resonator in the header, so it makes much less noise

its more expensive, quieter, and makes slightly less power

it is also CARB legal (probably translate to legal in AU as well)

The header you speak of is the PPE one.
It's not a resonator but a free flowing cat in roughly the same position as the OEM.
Power outputs are up on the OEM header and very slightly down IIRC on the cat free header.
It still wont be legal in Oz but is certainly much closer than no first cat.

Can i ask how much Goodwin are charging for shipping a full exhaust? Would have thought it would be too expensive from the states

Shipping for full exhaust is being quoted at US$695.48. But you'll get it in a week or so. The full exhaust itself is US$1259 so the total is $1954.48. So around AU$2.2k delivered to your door after customs and shipping. Up to you to say whether that's too much...

hi guys

the roadstersport street header was newly developed for his new NC2 PRHT copper red project car (its his wifes)

these are the first production units for sale

http://www.mazdatalkforum.com/viewtopic ... 1&start=90

http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Pe ... -1155.html

its similar to the PPE header ($750US) with the extra resonator, but is instead made of stainless steel to keep the cost down ($549US)

That's cheap considering a HKS header will cost 2000+ alOne. Plus the muffler and midpipe your looking at double the goodwins price :) the good thing is; unique!! :) only a handful of these full systems outside of Japan. Probably only one in aus.

We are less aware of how crazy NCs are in Japan. And how nice they look too.

Offtopic: Gmi, yeah I'm currently on tilt for those Advans. I've been looking at all possible wheels and I can't find anything I like as much as those. Only trouble is they're so exxy...

On topic: So anyone like to clarify the rules regarding exhaust legalities esp the catalytic converter issue? I would still like to know why a replacement header and midpipe with two catalytic converters would be considered "illegal" in Australia? Is it the type of catalytic converter used? Or is it because it is an unknown quantity that hasn't been tested yet officially and thus not an approved mod? What about if I went to a local Aussie specialist exhaust place and got a custom exhaust, would that be legal, or would it need an engineer signoff? These are genuine questions, not trying to stir or anything, I just want to know more.

i think to stay legal the exhaust system needs to be in the same configuration as factory.
So same number of cats as factory.

Not 100% sure though
