I am new owner of a Stock NB 2004 SE wanting to upgrade the breathing of the engine.
If there already a thread on this, please point me towards it.
Looking at the CAI options for my SE, and obviously on a budget as the financial controller has a few constraints on my budget!!!
1. I am looking at the AEM CAI kit to install myself.
2.Are there any other essential pieces to install when doing this upgrade ie Boost controller.
I cant afford to do the Exhaust at the moment, but on the wish list, also the intercooler.
Also what a the Legalities of the upgrade being in Perth WA, is it legal?

Everything is illegal, get that first.
Its a case of what will and will not actually get you booked.
The intake WILL get you booked if the bonnet is popped.
There has been a recent thread, but the intake and ecu is the first upgrade.

Not everything is illegal, this is a good place to start:

I had just the AEM intake in my SE initially and it was fine. It can be a bit annoying though, you need a louder exhaust to drown out the intake noises!

Why copy and paste just that part of the page?
You have to go through an approval processs for other mods, it doesn't mean they are illegal.

Re: Newbie Question AEM CAI on a budget
Well because almost everything is legal with the required engineering, and or individual build plate.
So the question of what is legal is limited to what can be simply, done, is the relevant definition in this context.
Sorry if I offended.
