NA 5 Speed Gear Box

Postby myredmx5 » Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:00 pm

Can someone point me to where I can find out how to rebuild my gear box.
I do not want to farm it out but learn how to do it myself.

It'll probably be cheaper just buying a used box in good condition, they pop up for around the $200 mark. I know NitroDann has a 5 speed in great nic he might be getting rid of soon. I don't think he's asking too much for it

Haha fair enough mate, what's wrong with it? In my workshop manual, its got a pretty comprehensive guide into assembling and disassembling my gearbox and checking components

I think the Mazda factory manual has a section, it can eb downloaded off the web (there's a link on teh forums somewhere)

Although, I won't be surprised if the Mazda manual makes assumptions that you've got all the tools (even the funny "special service tools") and all the knowledge.
It was written for the mazda workshop mechanics rather than for the average owner.

Hi.
The mx5 miata enthusiasts workshop manual by grainger has a very comprehensive section with photos on rebuilding the na 5 speed gearbox.
Worth getting it for this and other tasks.
