NA6 Miata 1.6 Problems

Postby Side_wayz » Tue May 29, 2012 10:08 pm

Hey guys just got my 1.6 miata mx5 and was just reading theyre not the best engine for reliability because of the crankshaft pulley, can anyone tell me iv got the 8 Slot in the pulley when it should be a 4 slot i think since its a 89 model, does that mean the crankshaft or the engine has been changed?

Yes it does, and its not something to worry about anyway, its massively overtalked, its not a big deal.

It's something that can happen to just about any engine really. Just make sure the crank parts are correctly assembled & the chance of ever having the problem are very slim.

Never happened to my NA6 up to 266,000Ks when the engine died of other reasons. Although crank key wear happened in my BPD engine at about 155,000ks of all things.... Half way to the second timing belt change.
