Hi guys,
Long story short: I have a few questions in relation to the door trim on an NB8B.
- Are replacements available for the 2 yellow plastic clips (in picture to the right and below the door handle) which align the screws for the door pull on the door card?
- Can replacement plastic rain sheets be purchased? (I searched this but couldn't seem to find anything?)
Here's a picture to explain what I mean by the yellow plastic clips.
Short story long:
I was made aware a few weeks ago when I had my tint re-done that my drivers side door had taken a battering by either the previous owner or mechanic. It wasn't until last week when I self-installed a set of Focal 8" component speakers that I saw what he meant.
First of all, the plastic sheets which provide water protection are all torn and mis-aligned (black goop everywhere...). Secondly (and most annoyingly), the 2 bolt points which secure the door card at the top and bottom of the door pull are missing their yellow plastic clips/housings (identified on my good passenger door in the picture above).
It seems the previous owner or mechanic has made do without these and just bolted the door card straight in, disfiguring the mounting point (making it near impossible to grip/tighten the bottom screw) and causing alignment issues to the door card itself. Now the door card sits skewed, higher towards the back, and the plastic trim clips in the door wells don't align.
Has anyone had similar experiences and can offer a solution?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated (it's amazing how such small imperfections can annoy you!!!)

Re: Door Panel Trim Mounts and Plastic Sheet
first step is go to Mazda spare parts esp for the clips- these s/be available. If the plastic is not serviced just buy some clear plastic sheet and cut to size. Plastic clips are sold in small packets by Bursons Repco etc. The black material is butyl and is produced in tape form.

Just to add to Mr Morlock's reply, usable sheeting won't likely be in the car section of the stores, you'll be more likely to find a similar plastic in the painting sections as "drop sheets" or something along those lines.

Thanks a heap guys, much appreciated! I had spoken with Mazda prior and either things got lost in communication or I wasn't talking with someone who knew exactly what I was describing (hence, the long-winded post). A picture of what I need should solve that now tho, fingers crossed!

Re: Door Panel Trim Mounts and Plastic Sheet
Thanks Hjt. I had seen that but wasn't sure with it being for the NA/mk1 models?
I had glanced over the website before looking for a yellow clip. Completely missed these which I'm hoping are the same thing http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/grommet-speak ... -1226.html
Thanks for all the quick replies!

Mazda operate the same way as Toyota and many others. They often ask you for the VIN and then look up the factory drawings with all parts identified. They will often swing the monitor around for you to agree that's the item you want. Descriptions for items are actually sometimes a bridge too far and over the telephone a spares guy may not grasp what is required. Many people do not even know the description of a part that's why we get comments on the forum about "thingos".

If it helps ease your mind, the plastic 'water-proofing' sheets are not essential.
In fact, they would actually distort your sound deadening if you ever go down that path.
Speakers are water-proof so all you really need to take care of are the wires and the screws that holds them to the speakers / tweeters / cross blocks.
