MX-5 BRASS MONKEY RETURN RUN 2012 FROM BATHURST

Meet #1: Outside the Bathurst Services Club following breakfast
Time #1: Sunday 3 June 2012 at 9.45am for 10.00am departure to Mt Panorama circuit

Meet #2: Depending on availability either on the hardstand opposite McPhillamy Park or failing that the start of Pit Straight
Time #2: Sunday 3 June 2012 at 10.15am for 10.30am for departure for Rockley.

The arrangements to meet and depart are designed to enable everybody who wants to do a few laps of Mt Panorama to do so before the run starts at 10.30am.

Details: If you are running the Brass Monkey in 2012, the top down and very cool cannonball run to Bathurst, and have not made plans for your drive back to Sydney, then you can join a merry band of survivors with all their appendages and sense of humour in tact on the MX5 BreakFast Club’s run back to the city. The MX-5 Return Run will go south of the Great Western Highway on quiet secluded rural roads selected from some best sections of the route used on the Central Tablelands Weekend last month - see Route Map in the More Info post in the Club’s Event Calendar.
The overall plan is a spirited run of the back roads and get onto the Bells Line of Road at Lithgow by around 2.00pm to cross the Blue Mountains before the returning day trippers are guaranteed to ruin your drive home.
For full details follow this link http://bit.ly/HEyrU0

RSVP: No registration required but you are asked to express you intention of joining the MX-5 Return Run by placing your name on the list that will be posted on this thread.

Guys, what kind of mileage are we looking at for the whole day?

Also, are we Sydney siders going to meet up somewhere and head off together?

The Brass Monkey starts its run at 6.00am from Eastern Creek and it is everyman for himself. There is no special place for MX-5s as it is a cannonball run with only two rules. The Brass Monkey covers about 160km that should see you in Bathurst by 8.00am, I beleive the unofficial record set in 2009 was to park at the RSL by 7.30am. 8).

For ticket holders it is breakfast at the RSL and brekkie in town for the others. I confirm my recommendation and CV for The Hub above for your morning meal in town.

The MX5 Return Run is around 265km and should see you in Richmond by around 3.30pm. :)

The two meeting points and arrangements are on the Club's Event Calendar at http://bit.ly/HEyrU0

If the Northern people want to meet up prior then I'm happy to organise, Either from Berowra or Lower North Shore.

Does anyone have a GPS/SATNAV link to where we should need to land at Eastern Creek ? Dont want to overshoot as I don't go out that way often - I'd hate to miss out !!
I'd like to take Photos so would like to get there early, like 6:15 ......

I don't think 6.15am is all that early if you want to take photos. The lead car pulls away at 6.00am sharp and the car park empties quickly as everyone hits the F4. You should be rugged up and ready to roll out by 6.55am. :)

The meeting place is the M4 East Service Centre at Eastern Creek easily identified on Google maps or on your iPhone. Drive down the slip road to the Caltex servo and around the back of McDonalds to enter the truck area from the back road otherwise it is long run to get back as you will be forced on to the F4. If you go past Maccas on the single lane slip road you are in trouble because you cannot turn left into the truck area as the exit will be blocked by roadsters facing and ready to roll onto the slip road and F4.

Alan,

I hold your ticket to hand out on Sunday and I would prefer if people contacted me and paid you the $17. I have a waiting list for cancellations at this point. Let me have your thoughts.
