Your right Rob
It's a bit like first time you take the kink at lakeside flat out , it takes a bit of faith to carry speed around 1 and 2
Definitely was woosing out and wasn't using anywhere near grip I had available
Thanks for being the bigger man and backing off, I think it may have ended in tears , but maybe you just knew you were whipped ;-)

What photos? I think there were a few taking them just have to wait until someone does a post or link - I didn't even have time to set my in-car camera up and turn that on :!:

Did you go? We see 'nicknames' here but that doesn't relate on the day unless you know who that nick relates to. 'Magpie' was there but I have no idea who he is until I hear a name or a car/car number to make the link

Great day and hope to see some pics when someone does a post - main problem there is it's hard when everyone is competing, you only end up with a few from the pit lane wall

Magpie = Mark Collingwood (Blue NA - Number 50) see if you pick the reason why I have the nickname that I do. Also my other half took some photos so I will get them up soon.

I vote a 50/50 session split of Clubman & Sprint layouts next time, what do you guys think?

Magpie

Got it!! Thanks, because it seemed a little too odd to be walking down pit lane saying to every new face 'are you Magpie?' might get reactions

No, with an IQ well above average all I could think of was the link with a certain Melbourne AFL team! We did meet and I did say a quick hello to the family while they were outside the fence. Hope you had the best day mate

Saboteur, doesn't worry me but yes, even if we had the next day at QR all on the 'Sprint' circuit, only done that once and the second last turn had water flowing across it! Made for a rather tricky turn 6 onto the main straight with wet tyres! I have some photos showing 4 cars at once thru that dip with water spray everywhere! Loved it on 'Firestone' wide ovals :frown:

Saboteur, nice times you did yesterday, well done! That car is a rocket!!

Problem is we are actually running a championship, where there is a trophy for most improved.
It is based on the improvement on PBs, at each track during the current year.
If we run sprint at QR next time, that leaves 1 on clubman, 1 on sprint, so only lakeside has multiple events to calculate time improvements during the year.
This was mentioned by Mark yesterday
And if you dont speak up at the driver briefing then how the ƒü¢k do you expect him to make that descision?

Anyone else suggest another way to acurately judge a 'Most Improved' ???

IMO for a lot of the relatively new drivers, and complete newbies, it is better to stick with one track layout.
It gives them a fighting chance to get over the nerves and get some consistency, without saying after 2 sessions, "Ok, now the track is diferant. Go start learning again."

I quite like the Sprint, but my PB for the day was in the last session, so goes to show repetitive practice improves your times, derr

Saboteur

Thanks for that, I'm sure a lot wouldn't believe that particular day! It was my first ever track day and all I was seeing were cars spinning!! I managed to stay in a straight line, maybe because it's hard to spin a car at low speed!!

I think there should be a vote,
Maybe just a raise of hands in the briefing?
Don't really think to many people are that worried about the championship are they?
It's only the mx5 club, hardy the indie 500. For me it's like taking a knife to a gun fight, just a bit of fun. Which it was!

To be fair to those who are interested in the club championship, the majority of the runs at the next Willowbank track day should be on the Clubman layout. Maybe, assuming there are no hiccups with timing etc. and we get four runs in by 3:30pm, the Sprint layout could be used for the last two runs for a bit of variety.
