Look forward to our battle continuing on Monday, we compared 'virtual' best laps times from Lakeside on 'Harrys Lap Timer', Ross is 1.08.91 and mine was 1.08.93, his best that day 1.10.12 and mine was 1.09.96
GAME ON
Congrats Roger! Looks like you pipped Ross to take out the NBM class. He gave it a good try too with 32 laps to your 22.

Re: MX5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY 21 MAY 2012
Many thanks to Mark, Chris & Wendy for an excellent day
Guran, not sure what happened with the laps counted but I did all runs but for some reason the timing didn't get Group 1 & 2 the first time, but I was quite slow then!! Once sorted it was fantastic!! The in-car display bumps your lap time up maybe 50-100m past the start/finish and that holds on display for the entire lap and can be download tp PC later - haven't tried yet as I just got home maybe 10 mins ago after stopping BP Northbound for a coffee with Mark after a nightmare run thru the backblocks of the city. Car behind me in Stafford got rear ended rather heavily, thank heavens they had their foot planted on the brake!! Then M1 was at a standstill with another accident on the arterial close to the M1, so did the backblocks thru Strathpine and popped out right behind Mark!!
Bryan, you will notice in those results John McK ex NSW, so a BIG hello from John to you
The battle with Ross was incredible, one run to go and he had got me That brought the maniac out in me for the last run and I managed to pip him by I think by 0.33 secs. We can't get any closer Well done Ross, I wish we had finished the day with identical times really, so GAME ON come Lakeside on 23 July next
A funny anecdote, coming out of QR onto the highway I was behind a B-Double cattle truck, soon the screen was getting covered so I thought given the smell coming from it I didn't want all that %%%%% over the car! Fool me, It was raining

Re: MX5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY 21 MAY 2012
Thanks for the great track day today guys, my first official track day and it was a lot of fun and well organised.
I just need to learn to drive the car to its full potential. A big thanks to Ross on the last session, I followed him the entire session and learned that I'm braking WAYYY to early and need to trust my brakes and grip a lot more. I probably learned more from that session than all the others put together. I also got a chance to follow saboteur, unfortunately it was on the warm-down lap so wasn't long enough at speed.
Thanks also to MINX, Brian and Neil for their tips, I'm a rookie and am always happy to learn from others, that's what's great about the MX5 community, there's always good advice to be had.

As what others have said, thanks for the day and I can't wait for the next track day!
I second what Lokiel said about braking too early and learning to trust them, by the end of the day I was starting to trust them more and my times reflected (as well as holding speed through turn 1 and 2).

Re: MX5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY 21 MAY 2012
Can I please add my thanks to the organizers, and several others who took the time to pop around and say hello.
Despite the assistance to get the AC drive belt replaced and get back out there, it turns out Fuel surge got the better of the green meanie and it leaned out several times. The last might have gotten the better of it, as I have no positive boost any more, and nothing really obvious like a blown intercooler pipe to blame...
More to find out as I have the time, but for a first day out in a real car, having a real crack- I had a blast, and there could not be a better group of people to experience this with first time.
Again - great day and thanks to all for putting up with me.
Rich.

Well done Rich and great lap times!! You frightened the %%%%% outta me when you had that little 'lose' going thru turn 2!! Wasn't sure where you were going to end up but you managed to get it straight and stayed on the black stuff!! See, the faster you go the more groups you move up!! Nice to see you have made it to Group 1 at your first attempt, the car looks great and goes well, keep it up!!

Ah yes! Back at the Feb trackday at Wakefield Park, I seem to remember John saying he was moving to QLD. Great to hear he's already joined you guys at the track.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun . These close battles and friendly rivalries are what make MX-5 Club trackdays so enjoyable.

First off I noticed the NSW rego, but then Tweed Heads isn't THAT far away!! I only met John after he last run, but a great guy and now lives up near Mark & Wanda
Haha, the battle WILL continue, Ross is a great guy and we both started around the same time a bit over a year ago - truly, it's GAME ON for us, after every run MINX would ask me how the battle was going because I was in Group 2 and Ross was placed in Group 3, so hopefully next meet at Lakeside we can both be same group, that will make it more interesting!! Last Saturday over coffee we talked of ways we can improve at Lakeside as that is a very technical track, I know where I let myself down, just need bigger %%%%% [can't find them in any Chemist or K-Mart!]
The awesome fact of today was getting 46 entries!! Four groups and we all got 6 runs, not bad to shoot out 24 groupings in a half day, back in January we got seven runs but only three groups so that equated then to 21 total groupings [if my maths is correct!] and also a half day meet.It seems to work at its best when each group goes out as close as possible to 'fastest first - slowest last', I usually sit near the start and wave them thru until I'm ready to 'slot-in'
Fun day and can't wait to see 'little reddy' running around up here
