300 millimetres from centre hub to wheel arch, sits on 15 inch tyres.

ron,
that is about the height i have been running for the past 18mths.
I recently just got tired of it and have raised it about another 15-20mm higher than that.
And after the mountain drive on the weekend, I, and Lisa, are both happier.
It is simply more relaxing not worrying about hitting ridges in the road, bottoming out the guard liners on fast bumpy tight corners etc.
And the car is handling the best it has for a long time. And for the road, have the dampers set very soft.
I miss the low look, but it is so much easier to live with, esp since i have a steep driveway, and one speed bump in my roadway to negotiate every trip.

For optimum handling, NA/NBs were designed so that the rears should be 0.5" (12.7mm) higher in the rear than the front. Keith Tanner of FM recommends this though Goodwin recommend only 0.25" (6.35mm) difference.

300mm is 11.8". I'm slightly above that at the front (11.9") and another 0.5" higher in the rear and think I'm a tad too low for some speed bumps but I never bottomed out on the Mt Glorious club run on Sunday morning - there was very little traffic at that time so there was nothing slowing me down.

12" front and 12.5" rear are usually "safe" based on everything I've read.

I suspect that your rear end is too low.

Looking at a set of bc coilovers. Ken graham is installing same in his brothers supercharged mx5 today.
Heard good and bad about BC. But a seat of the drive will make up my mind.

Well
Considering Ken did a spanner check on mine 2 weeks ago and knows how it drives - and Is now putting them on Graham's NB- should suggest they are a good choice

Do you know what spring rates ken is using with the bc's - or is he just installing them with the standard 8, 6 kg/mm springs that the bc's come with?

Forgot to ask ken about spring rates. But will possibly catch him later today.

If you do end up with BC's, try and get 9Kg front and 6 kg rear springs (you can order customised springs) since this is the ideal "3:2" handling ratio according to FM. If you don't like 'em, I'm happy to swap my 8kg front springs for the 9kg springs.

FYI: Tein Super Streets use 7kg front and 6kg rear spring rates which gives a smooth street ride but the handling isn't as reactive.The Australian BC Racing BR series coilovers use 8kg front and 6 kg rear spring rates if you don't specify specific rates and are a compromise between street use and track use. I think in the US the default is 10kg front and 8kg rear.

Another coilover option to consider is HSD; they have more travel in the rear (which is good) .

Ken did mention building customised springs. I want it street driveable, not bone jarring like a set of teins I had on another car.

I put Meister R coilovers in my NB - they have increased rear travel in the rear which is why I went for them as apposed to the BC. (Even though I have heard that they are both made in the same factory)

They are a great coilover and many of the English guys also run them on their MX5's and love them.

Kens brothers car ? Graham as 8 lb front , 6 lb rear springs. Going to take her for a spin next track day.
Car as been set to 305 fromt, 310 rear.

Pretty sure that's meant to be 8kg and 6kg else the car would be on its belly

6kg/mm front and 3.5kg/mm rear with 24mm front sway bar and 14mm rear. Do it 8-)
