New head unit recomendation anyone ?
I'm looking at putting in a new head unit in my NA6 and wonder if anyone could recomend one ?
I'm looking for something that will not stand out like the proverbial dogs and that is useable without haveing to pull over in order to adjust the volume.
There's a Mazda radio/cd 6 stacker unit which if anyone is selling one I wouldn't mind buying as long as it's working properly and doesn't jump around more than Kev or use the loaded discs like internal frisbees, it's the one with the internal amps not the external , but I'm not even sure we got that one here.
Anyhoo any recomendations gratefully received ,

Something with a USB in or memory card slot (listen to your mp3s).

Pretty happy with my Alpine CDE-103EBTi - simple volume knob, front USB, Ipod cable in glovebox, excellent clarity bluetooth. Looks like its been superseded now.

New head unit recomendation anyone ?
Another vote for Alpine. Just had a mid level model put in my NB, with an iPod classic under my elbow and a hard wired phone kit. Worth every cent. Not sure how they are usually installed but I asked for the pocket on top, and it makes it more usable...

Pioneer has just released their new range with an iPod/iPhone capable unit, with aux. as well for $123 at JB hifi.
Pretty good value for a nice pioneer.

Re: New head unit recomendation anyone ?
Thanks for the input guys,
Alpine--I came across this one which I like a lot, but,---out of stock not
http://www.alpine.com.au/showItem.php?item_id=278
l also like this one if I go single din ,
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Alpine-C ... 231854310a
And this superceeded Pioneer which seems like a good thing at the price.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/170660516466 ... 1423.l2649
And whilst not convinced that an AV unit is remotely sensible at the price this one seems to have plenty going for it.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/260991796724 ... 1423.l2649
Just incidentaly I have an NA6 so it's almost inevitable I'll have to change the toomstone to have whatever I put in look remotely copacetic with the car.
Any feedback iwelcomed , .

Brilliant! I'm looking to replace the Alpine (with 6 disc stacker) in the Integra. I love the new Alpine with bluetooth connectivity in Apu, so would want similar bunch of features.

Re: New head unit recomendation anyone ?
Not a huge fan of Alpine units myself.
I've used Clarion, Alpine, Eclipse and Pioneer. I've personally found Alpine units to be the least accurate sounding, with an unnatural 'enhancement' of midbass frequencies that leads to an unnaturally 'bloated' style of sound. I've also found the user interfaces to be especially unintruitive and a right pain in the butt - at least on the higher end models with full active processors. They are also IMO way overpriced in terms of the features you get for your money.
I've found Clarion to be probably the most neutral and accurate, with Pioneer and Eclipse also quite nice.
Right now far as value for money goes I think Pioneer and Clarion are probably the best compromise between features, price and usability but that's just my personal opinion. Everyone is different
Yes with no local warranty, so if something goes wrong in 5 months time you have to pray that the seller still exists and is willing to pay out of their own pocket to replace the unit for you.
Last I checked Alpine do not approve online sales (especially on ebay) and will not provide warranty support for any product not purchased through an authorised reseller. At least this was the case a year or so ago - could have changed since then, but I doubt it.
If you are willing to take the risk, then you can defiantely save a lot of money that way...but it's up to you to decide whether the risk is worth it for the amount of money you will save.

Re: New head unit recomendation anyone ?
Hey Basho. I have one of these units in my NA8.
http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/comp ... 1bthu.html
Picked it up at JB on sale at $256.
Because it has DAB+ I changed my antenna for a DAB/AM/FM unit which as two outputs for DAB and AM/FM.
The only problem I have with the unit is being able to read the display when the roof is down on a sunny day....I had the same problem with a previous Alpine unit.

Re: New head unit recomendation anyone ?
I prefer to buy my head unit locally so you have play with the layout and functions.
JB HiFi is my place to go to. I always seem to get prices similar to the going online prices.
Managed to get the Pioneer DEH-9350SD for only $250.
3 high voltage RCA outputs, USB (wish they had a rear output though) and SD card slot. Not too mention it doesn't stick out in the interior like some of the other brightly coloured ones do.
