stone chips

on my return trip from the north coast, as i was overtaking a car, a truck kicked up a storm and i ended up with several stone chips on my front bumper :frown:

anyone know what the most effective method is to get a near invisible repair or anyone who can repair it really well?

colour is the crystal white or something for the NC2

This thread is pretty brief so far but I'll see if it can be extended a bit more.
I have a stormy blue NC that has acquired a few stone chips and I have touch up paint. After applying the touch up paint what is the best way to bring it back to a level surface and re-polish to the make it look near to original please?
Any constructive ideas or links appreciated.

Sorry guys but 'win some, lose some'!

Depends really on how pedantic you are - I had the front of my NB repainted [nose cone] and it looked great until a simple trip from Bribie Island down to Brisbane on the 6 lane M1, awesome piece of road, BUT some ^%^&%$ had dropped a load of crusher dust in the lane I was in and not until the Statesman ahead of me hit it, I had NO WAY of avoiding from my lane - result? Thru no fault of my own I was back to square one with worse damage than I started with :frown:

That happened NINE DAYS after I got it back from the repair shop :frown:

I am thinking about giving it a go on the bumper with a little inconspicuous test first of all. If it works I will do the lot including the bonnet. If and when I do i will take some before and afters.

I am looking at buying a DA polisher in a couple of weeks so waiting for that. Have teh touch up paint on its way already.

A good way to do it, but make sure you practice the wetsanding first.

Wetsanding is an incredibly efficient way to destroy paint.

Also, any wetsanding marks will not come out with a hand polish, you will need to machine polish afterwards.

In the same situation with my mx. Has a load of stone chips left from the PO, as he drove highways a lot. Nothing much you can do if you also drive highways/freeways a lot. Even if you repair it, it'll come back pretty soon. Car bras can help though, so if you do get it repaired, possibly invest in a good one for your mx.

I have just given up on my bumper and bonnet. Some pretty big stone chips. Which i've added to by doing hill runs.
