Hi All
Driving into work this morning, something peculiar happened.
Sitting in traffic listening to the radio, I noticed that the headunit momentarily turned off and on for a split-second.
I didn't think anything of it at the time, but about 5 mins later while idling in traffic, the car turned off by itself???
I turned it back on and noticed the headunit had reset itself (lost all pre-programmed stations and time).
Any ideas???
It was fine for the rest of the trip.

Re: Electrical Failure?
Goonie,
It would be helpful if had told the forum the model of your MX5; but if it's an NA it could be the electrical side of your ignition switch.
I haven't had it happen to my MX but I have experienced it on VW family models, including Audi and Seat.
I have also been advised not to have to much crap hanging of the key ring as the extra wieght reduces the life of the Ignition switch.

Re: Electrical Failure?
Thanks for your replies guys.
Mine is a NA6 (Eunos Roadster import).
I was thinking it could be earthing issues, so I'll check all the points mentioned in that link.
Cheers!

Make sure that you have nothing floating around in the boot, such as the Jack handle, that could short out the battery. I had this happen because I was lazy and didn't put things away properly.

Hey Goonie, I think the weight on the key is a old wives tail, told by old people about old cars when they were making the change from crank handles to that new fangled key thingy
