Hey All,
I did a bit of searching but wasnt able to find a thread like this. So I've started this topic, anyway my problem is when im taking off normally from a stand still position the car will only creep very slowly but have no power behind it for around 5 seconds or more and then it slowly make its way to 3000rpms and then drive normally.
It happens every single time from a stand still position but if i ride the clutch at around 2000rpms or more then it will generally take off normally.
Any ideas what this would be ? could it be the injectors ? i have no idea.
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

Re: No power when taking off
Is your clutch slipping?
does it rev up faster than you accelerate?
***in a safe place***
cruising in 2nd gear, at about 2500rpm, put your foot on the clutch, then drop it quickly.
Does it jolt when engaging, or feel like it's slowly slipping to catch up?

Re: No power when taking off
nah, dont think the clutch is slipping, coz the car generally wont rev up even with the throttle planted
will try it and let you know
thanks

What model MX5 do you have?
Sounds like a timing problem to me.

Re: No power when taking off
i had a similar problem. Check spark plugs, leads. If it's the same as mine, it was the thermostat with the green top behind the engine block.
