NC LEATHER SEATS - TOO HARD

Postby Hurricane » Sat May 05, 2012 4:15 pm

Spoke to Regie and others at todays support of Illawarra Chapter Club run about the leather seats in the NC being too hard, I advised we had our car seats softened at a local upholster. For those interested in doing the same here is the address A1 Motor Trimming & Upholstery Factory 1/1 Box Road Taren Point, PH: 9525 3330 Mobile 0418 111 444.

They were softened by reworking the back section of the seat, replacing some of it with softer materials. It really made a difference and the seats are much more comfortable, stops the backaches and makes driving long distance a pleasure.

sounds like a very good plan. My limited drives in an NC certainly alerted me to the hard seat. A mate has fabric which is much more supple and most of the used cars seemed to be leather facings.

Never thought they were to hard, but do think need to hold you in a lot more. Would love a sparco spint but can't be bothered working out all the electrical gismo's once removed.

Well after 63,000 km in our NC with leather seats, I must say I (183 cm tall) have never had any discomfort. Some drives have been quite long e.g. 820 km on twisty roads in one day during the return from Natmeet 2012.

I reckon the NC seats are like a board compared to my NB- my wife said the same- and I even added a lambswool cover to the NB to improve it even more. Comfort is also something related to physical condition etc. People with back problems are often forced to sell vehicles that they are not compatible with- it is one of the most common ailments. Personally I would not choose leather though most of the NC's have them so a work around is possible. If it has worked for Hurricane I bet he is one happy chappy.

The funny thing is that I do have a back problem and am on a part veteran's disability pension for it. No probs with the NC though. The NA on the other hand nearly did me in until I modified the seat.
