I like silver on black but just to demonstrate how "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", I reckon these stripes would look better if they were moved towards the centre by about 100-200mm, they're too close to the edge for me.

OP, I still reckon mid-grey or silver metallic stripes would work well on your car (apologies for the size, it's an image I found on the web):

Persoanlly I think they're a waste of money. I have white stripes on my car and no one seems to notice.

There is a massive stripes thread on the US board that may provide some food for thought. I don't have a link I'm afraid, but it shouldn't be hard to find.

Lea

Looks awesome! There is an NA getting around Brisbane, white with blue Cobra stripes, looks great and stands out

My NB is highlight silver and im seriously thinking of two stripes in very dark silver/titanium centred about 75mm apart and 250-300mm wide on each to go up and over aall the way!! - might do the same as you with a 'dummy-up' first!!

I didn't buy the NB to park in the garage and gather dust, I bought it to drive, have fun and try and get over the mid-life crisis!! If it looks that little bit different to other silver ones, then so be it!!

Just check Car #53 at Wakefield Park for Natmeet Sprints, the red NC with the white stripes - now that car looks flat out even when it's standing still!

Go for it Lea, if you like it that's all that matters :D

I think you mean "Sunlight Silver" zero00. I tried to convince crapweasel to add some dark grey stripes to his Sunlight Silver SE like you're thinking of, I reckon they look great:

Nah NB8A is Highlight Silver, NB8B is Sunlight silver. It's extremely annoying to get painted parts, everything online is Sunlight silver

Schooled, I learned something today!

I had a look at this page "Sunlight & Highlight Silver Metallic" http://www.mx5gallery.net/thumbnails.php?album=42 and couldn't really see a difference that couldn't attributed to the lighting conditions. I guess you need to see them side-by-side to tell the difference.

Mazda should have come up with more distinguishable name. Anyone know the reason for the change in colour? Was Highlight Silver not considered dark enough or too dark even?

Probably more to make it easier to advertise the NEW model.

NEW MX5
NEW COLOURS
NEW ETC

Sounds better than:

I have 2 thin offset chrome stripes on my black NB.

They didn't attract many positive comments in my garage thread, but i love them.

Really not sure why they did it, very frustrating though as it's pretty obvious when they're next to one another. It meant any parts I wanted to add to the car pretty much had to be resprayed.

Easier now with the SE - Velocity Red is strangely more available!
