These are currently on ebay Aus for $759. Whats everyones opinion?

Unless you specifically need adjustable ride height than I would spend the money in shocks / shocks and springs.
Why do you want coil overs/ what are you wanting to change on the car would help answer the question

I currently have mazdaspeed coilovers that are pretty much stuffed, & I'd like to keep the lowish ride. Better ideas?

Probably a set of bilstiens delivered from USA via shox.com if your happy with your current ride height.
The mazdaspeed ones might be reconditionable. Should be a few places on the southside capable of doing it. Not sure if the shock absorber reconditioners at slacks creek still exist. Try talking to accurate suspension or city suspension.
How spanner handy are you? If you can remove and refit yourself than putting a set of bilstiens in would probably cost the same as driving into a shop for a reco.

If you've got the green ones ( I think you posted them somewhere.) They are not what most people consider a "coil over" but coil on shock.

I have no idea what brand these are so wouldn't go near them knowing nothing at all about them.
Coilovers are expensive and a bit of a bugger to install so you only want to do it once - get it right the first time.
Stick with known brands people are happy with (ie. do some forum searches).
I installed a set of BC Racing BR series coilovers on my SE/MSM and are happy with them. They are adjustable for height and have damping adjustability so you can adjust the firmness of the ride (hard/medium for track medium/soft for street)
Things to look for in coilovers:
1. Reliability - do some research on the forums to see what others have reported over a long period of time, you don't want leaks (ie. avoid cheap Chinese kits).
2. Adjustable damping, preferably via the knob on top of the coilover rather than ones with knobs on the shaft since they're harder to access. Tein makes a kit that allows you to control the damping electronically.
3. Get your required spring rates. Ideally they should have a ratio of 3:2 for best handling according to Keith Tanner from FM so 9Kg front and 6kg rear would give you the best handling on the track. For a smoother street ride, Tein Super Streets use 7Kg Fr and 6Kg Rr but that's not so good on the track. My BR series coilovers have 8Kg Fr and 6Kg Rr spring rates so are a good compromise - you can order specific spring rates though for BC coilovers and I may switch to 9Kg front springs one day (in the US, BC spring rates ship with 10Kg Fr and 8Kg Rr).
I'd only consider the following brands (not necessarily in this order):
* BC Racing
* HSD (the new boy on the block - I would probably have bought these if I knew about them since they have further rear shock travel than the BCs)
* Tein (SuperStreets are the cheapest but not so good for track work, other models are quite expensive)
* Bilstein PSS9 (if you want one of the best)
* AFCO (FM's top offering)
Note: I've helped uninstall a set of Yellowspeeds and weren't as impressed with them as the BC coilovers so haven't listed them since they are the same price as the BC coilovers (the driver wasn't impressed either and switched to AFCOs after 3 weeks on the Yellowspeeds).

Having re read your other thread what makes you think the shocks are stuffed. Not saying they aren't but you are also having issues with ride height

My mechanic has shown me where they are starting to weep, & there are no bump stops. He said it's not super urgent but not too far off.

Yup OK, just sometimes people say there shocks are stuffed due to poor handling and it turns out to be wheel alignment.

For what its worth i have king super lows on koni adjustable and they are about as low as you can practically go without loosing your front bar after every driveway.

Are the mazdaspeed's rebuildable?
Otherwise you have several choices.
FM illuminas or v-maxx (I can vouch for the former)

V-Maxx are excellent value if you can do without the adjustable damping. They have excellent spring rates for street and light track work.
Shipping is the trick. Try to work it in with a forum group buy from FM.

Have look at fat cat motor sport web site he has done a lot of of testing and has a useful comparison chart.
