For the Guru's -
I have a little crack right at the base of the hose that connects to the top of the cam/rocker cover (is that the pcv?). The crack exposes the hole that the connecter/valve covers. Will this cause an unstable idle when cold? reason i am asking is because the genius's at Mazda will only sell me the whole system, not the little L shaped valve thing that i need. At $300+ it isn't cheap.
Help would be awesome!!
Cheers guys

Look here.
If it's cracked it needs to be fixed and is most likely the cause of your idle problem

Or here

I've bought a lot from here

Mazda Oz is just not into little bits..the brake pad guides I required are ~$20 in the US...Mazda Oz doesn't carry them as a spare but would sell me a set of stock pads with the guides for $236

Re: [NC] Finally bit the bullet
Are you talking about the tube & connector shown here as 13-746A or the 90 degree bend on the cover its self?
http://www.jimellismazdaparts.com/showA ... rchString=
Either way if it's just related to the breather I'd doubt that would cause your problem as that tube can be re routed into a catch can without and running faults.
Why not check by cleaning it up and apply some plastic glue to see if it fixes the problem?

Re: [NC] Finally bit the bullet
sorry guys, im confusing myself lol. NC has so many sensors and things compared to my previous cars.
It is what Phil is talking about. The breather (go's from the top of the rocker cover to the tube inbetween the MAF and throttle body. I thought that was the PCV valve (positive crankcase valve). The way it is cracked i am not able to block it off and test it without risking whatever i block it with to drop onto the cams. Can't hold my thumb over it either as the crazy idle only really happens when i am driving and coming to a stop/clutch in etc.
Would it affect vacuum if it was cracked/exposed?

Re: [NC] Finally bit the bullet
Think I'd be disconnecting the battery, getting in and step on the brakes a few times, reconnect the battery and go for a 30 min drive (at least).
This will reset the ECU and maybe it will setup the idle better.
Bonus is you get to retune all the stations on your radio
