NA6 gasket set

Postby Sprite001 » Thu Apr 19, 2012 9:23 pm

Hi there
I am wondering about head gasket sets for my NA6.
Due to a noisy cam follower and a leakage water pump, the head is coming off my car for a freshen up.
While looking around the various web sites there seems to be a big difference in prices, ebay have them for $149 and shops seem to be $400 or so.
Can someone let me know your thoughts and experiences with both types of gasket sets as it is a big job and I don't want to have to redo it any time soon.
Also can I reuse the head bolts? I know with most engines you cannot.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Phil

Head bolts are ok to re use. I got a 40 gasket set from USA (plus 60 shipping) didn't end up using much as water pimp came with gaskets, timing belt came with gaskets ect. Did use the valve seals, due to upping the compression I decided to use genuine Mazda head gasket.

Is say buy from Ebay / USA. Parts here are stupid expensive. Mazda wanted 240 for the head gasket "if we can get it". Genuine was like 60 plus post from USA.

Try and stick to something that has an OE head gasket and jap seals in it. There are aftermarket ones available like this, I use them on my car and on my engine builds. If you like I can price you one tomorrow,
