I agree
The hose is both too long and too wide in diameter. An issue im having at the moment is that the diameter on the AFM is larger than the throttle inlet, so I essentially need a hose that has a different diameter on each end. I have been quoted $75 for the original part shipped from Autoexe Japan.
What would be a cheap alternative or work around?

Even if I get the elbow hose right, theres still the overall issue of fitment. Ill take off the charcoal canister, see if I can relocate it to anywhere sensible and have another crack at it.

I had the same problem and ended up relocating the overflow bottle and a few other bits. I did the install on a really hot day and was sick of sweating like a pig so I ended up just zip tying the bottle a bit closer to the firewall and took it for a test drive. Its a bit ghetto but I've had no issues/noises with it thus far but i'll make up a couple of brackets to mount it somewhere properly maybe with a longer hose and relocate it to where the stock airbox goes.

hey, sorry if i am late with this post, but i am having the same problem, my coolant tank is getting in the way and i was wondering how you guys relocated the tank to the other side, and if possible is there a aftermarket tank that suits well? thank you.

I bought the same intake from a forum member a while back now. I had to buy an elbow piece that went from 2.5 to 2 inch (from memory) and had to shorten it. Originally the kit came with overflow relocation brackets which were also missing from the one I bought. I ended up ordering some from Japan and while I was waiting for them I managed to find a second hand set from MX5 plus. I have a spare brand new set if you want.
