Title says it all, really. For those who don't know, rallycross was huge in the 60s/70s and is now making a massive comeback in america especially, but also in europe

Rally sprints are the default dirt events in Australia.

But I guess they are on proper rally courses (all dirt), and not integrating tarmac and dirt?

The entry level in nsw is called khana cross, with a few venues in the Sydney area.
Imagine mixing a motorkhana with a rally... They are awesome fun on a shoestring budget
It's not car on car racing, but the trails used are quite often narrower and tree lined, with chicanes in place to keep the top speed down...
If rallycross gives you wood, then I'd defiantly recommend one.
Details for upcoming events at www.motorkhana.com
Circuit operators I have delt with in the past have really liked to keep their grass green and their track edges in tact. The "dirt turbo" entry style in drifting was a massive no no. if you ever saw the lh side of turn 3 on Oran Park GP you can see it was a popular move but reaked havoc to the circuit condition.

Another name to search for is Autocross

I believe Khanacross tends to be an oversized Motorkhana with Autocross stepping it up a bit more in speed.

Autocross is fast paced action on dirt! Autocross sees cars released onto the track one at a time with each vehicle racing against the clock and not other cars around typically tight, twisty and challenging dirt tracks for a single lap. Essentially club based motor sport, Autocross is a fabulous introduction for drivers to driving quickly on dirt, and a teaser for those who might wish to try their hand at Rally or Off Road events.
Autocross events encourage standard and modified cars, and usually a range of classes are catered for.
Drivers must be at least 14 years of age to participate in autocross and hold a Level 2 Speed licence.
Deniliquin run a full Autocross series on their trackKhanacross are events conducted on predominantly unsealed surfaces and involving a series of timed tests of various layouts. Khanacross is not, and may not include, a speed event. No straight section of the course may exceed 100 metres in length without a turn of at least 90°. Each test is designed to test the acceleration, braking and general manoeuvrability of the vehicle and the skill and judgement of the driver. The course for each test is marked by the appropriate use of arrows and/or direction markers. Only one car is allowed on each test at any one time.

Re: Rallycross...does anyone run these events in NSW?
Nabiac also has an 'autocross' track. Its shaped almost exactly like the outline of a spread open hand.
I ran it in my 5 once with rally tyres and no other changes. It was.... Rough... To say the least.
I then ran it for one single run in our pulsar, sacrificing points, but officials allowed it, and ran 2nd outright, one a single flying lap.
Autocross is an american term which refers to motorkhanas on sealed surfaces, in which the course is big enough to reach higher speeds (maybe 120 odd km/h). So a search on google may be confusing.
Khanacross is the beginners step to rallysprints.
I must have done 50 khanacross events when I was younger. Its very cheap to get into and enough driving skill can see a poor car to the top.
I ran FTD against awd turbo cars and class 5 buggies more than a few times in my N13 pulsar, especially in the wet (Yep fwd vs awd in mud). I trusted that car so much, and was very confident in it, so threw it into blind night time tree lined corners past 90 degrees sliding in 3rd.
I love the forest! Big balls and the skill to pull it off pays off. People love to quote that rain is the big equaliser, id say dirt is pretty similar.
