As expected the product is durable and still easily removable if you coat it thick enough. So far I have covers badges, chrome fuel cap, striker plates, center console.

The product bonds well to most surfaces and oversray is easily rubbed off if treated shortly after application.
I have been working with the flat black from prime electronics in Sydney.

I made sure to get a good mask from bunnings prior to painting it on.

Kinda works like latex...

My hard top is faded, and I wonder, if this will be cheap DIY for a new hardtop colour?

If the top is already messy then you dont have much to lose!!

I guess it depends what state it is in? If the clear coat is peeling then that is going to show through and I would worry about the plasti dip bonding to the damaged areas so it can not be easily removed if it looks pap.

I liked the look of your badges when I saw them the other week, how did the centre console come out? I'd be interested to see how it fares in an area that constantly gets brushed

Thanks mate, the area isnt rubbed as much as would would think. Seems to stay clean, I may add another coat to it today to appear darker but I have no complaints.

Has anyone here bought the kit to mix your own custom colour?

There are a few examples on the net if you search, e.g. neon coloured wheels etc and I think it's worth trying on a spare set of wheels.

It would be good to see pics of any work done in the coloured plasti dip.

Has anyone convinced themselves that it's worth a try on the front bumper, as a plasti dip car bra?

For those of us with light coloured cars, there are a few interesting cosmetic mods we could try. Start with tidying up the windscreen wipers (and NAs - headlight surrounds.

Some pics; looks good.

How about dechroming the frankenstein bolts/bits and door handles?

Hmm, I would like to try it on the Windscreen wipers.
What I really would like for windscreen wipers though is what ever Toyota used on 90's model Taragos. Still looks new on ours today 17 years later.
The MX-5's windscreen wiper coating is crap. My car barely sees the sun, and the wipers are light grey. Pretty much the same deal on my Dad's NC.

I've used plasti dip over carbon fibre before, comes off in nice big plasticy bits when you remove it unless the area is rough or porous then it can take a bit of effort to scrape off.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Any long-term user reports on Plasti Dip painted wheels?
And where to get it cheaply?
And if you can get it mailed from another State? (Pressure pack)

I picked up a rattle can of this from a local place a few weeks ago for $33.00.

Shipping this stuff can be expensive, i would be suprised if a group buy got a much better deal unless someone can pick it up and distribute without posting.
