I agree with the compensation suggested.
Nice work getting the KL exhaust to fit and I understand the logic - to get it passed and it is OEM quiet, in theory.
Did you look at other 'KLiata' exhausts?
I only ask because you might get much betterground clearance a different way. Just thinking out loud, pardon the pun.
I don't know if it's helpful but have you looked at what the design is for the VW R32 MkV, in case that design helps (sounds amazing and has the centre outlets).
Like this Milltek design (arquay, kresseig and others are even nicer of course!).

So is that big muffler just for engineering and passing the various tests, then are you putting the other one on?

Thanks Bizi but I'm not keen to spend any more money on the car at the moment, I'll just wind up the coilovers and live with the KL muffler.

Yeah it's for easier engineering. I might change it later depending on how loud the stock exhaust is, it sounded pretty good when I drove the donor car and that had the pipe crushed down to 1/2" wide at one point.
I bought a couple of bullet mufflers a few months ago to add to the stainless system I made, with the oval rear muffler it should make a system which isn't too loud.

Today my red vacuum hoses arrived so I decided to make the fittings for the manifold. They're all threaded M10x1.5, I made 2 x 4mm ones for the charcoal cannister and EGR, a 6mm one for the MAP sensor and a 10mm one for the brake booster. I forgot to make another 2mm one for the fuel solenoid, I'll make that tomorrow.
I also put new pipes and fittings on the oil filter relocation setup. It took AGES but it simplifies the hoses and moves them away from the exhaust.

Today I cut most of the hoses to length and made another vacuum fitting. I also cut up the stock radiator hoses to find a shape which would fit, it looks pretty simple, just a 45 degree bend and a 25 degree one.

Andrew, will you be fabricating a 626/Probe/RX7 FC brake setup? The FC 4 piston / VW Corrado 280mm vented rotor setup looks the goods if anyone needs bigger than NA8 and I noticed some people use Probe V6/626 bits, so if you had access to a 626/Probe donor...

Thanks guys, I haven't forgotten the project it's just uni work has been catching up with me lately.
I sold the donor car a few weeks ago and the brakes went with it though I imagine custom fabricated brake caliper brackets would be difficult/impossible to get engineered. I think I'll be fine with NB8A brakes front and rear. I want to keep the stock daisies so that limits larger brake choices.
Basically since the last update I've just been doing little things on the car. I've made all the oil/fuel/vacuum hoses, wrapped all the wiring, put new exhaust studs on the manifolds, new studs on the inlet manifold for the throttle body and ported out the lower section of the intake manifold.
The biggest issue I have at the moment is that the underdrive pulley STILL hasn't arrived, even though it was shipped from the USA on the 1st of this month. My V-band exhaust flanges and clamp arrived, I didn't realise it was such large diameter. I'm having a tough time finding a spot to put it in the exhaust. I can't have the manifold extend too far back or it becomes impossible to install, but there's very little room for the v-band until you move past the bellhousing... I'll take a few pictures next time I'm working on the car.
I've got a few exams over the next two weeks so updates might be a bit sparse. As soon as the underdrive pulley arrives I'll try to make the 36-1 trigger wheel and get the car fired up. I hope starting the engine will give me the motivation to get it finished ASAP.

One last thing: Once you've bedded in this setup, what if someone offered you the 800M Miller Cycle, supercharged KL-J V6?
