Just a suggestion ,after a quick review of the CTW road handbook and a great handbook it is . I suggest we might include
Bills Beans
148 McLachlan Street, Orange NSW 2800
(02) 6361 1611 ‎
For our serious coffee break .
we could miss the Beekepers even tho it is in Vittoria (such irony) and sound very interesting Push to orange after the various poi and photos.
Just a suggestion

Reviews are very good but it is up to Tony. :?: I do not know if the change enhances :D or detracts  from the Stage 1 by making it a longer stage with the coffee break at around 10.30am.

Last time I went to Hill End was in the 80's..... it was all dirt from Sofala in those days.... Now i dont mean to sound precious, but am hoping there has been some serious roadwork over the last 3 decades.... can anyone confirm road conditions? Google maps didnt help much...

Not to worry Stue, road from Hill End to Bathurst via Hill End Road and Turondale Road is sealed. Not sue however about the road from Mudgee to Hill End.

I did the road from Mudgee to Hill End in 2008 (albeit in a Honda CRV) and was sealed all the way.

My Dad did Sofala to Hill End a fortnight ago and reckoned it was all sealed bar a few kms of good quality dirt.

Sofola Road to Hill End is predominantly dirt. I have not dríven the road from Mudgee down to Hill End but an episode of the defunct Top Gear Australia had the team drive that road in super cars. 8) Villa has dríven the road and says that apart from usual council roadworks the road is sealed and that seems to be the case on a close look at Google Earth & Maps. :D

What does Villa or anyone else have to contribute on the driving that road to give Stuart something to look forward to
