I can't really believe how pathetic all of this is...
bensale wrote:Do you really think the 2 holes are so offensive that they completely override all the nice bits on the car? I think they're there due to the design of the tombstone bringing the face closer to the dash structure. So there isn't room for all the plastic behind the face the OEM one has.

How the hell did this start all of this personal crap or even be considered going off or 'fighting battles'. Have fun with your vendetta, you should hope it's deleted, it all looks a bit pathetic

Alright kids...

Can we go build another sandbox or start another thread somewhere else to have this playground fist fight?... (or better yet, exchange PMs or Emails in your own time)

It's a garage build thread here for goodness's sake.

Like it - comment.

Don't like it - don't comment.

While I couldn't give a care about the back and forth (I genuienly didn't even notice the holes until they were pointed out), I strongly disagree with this statement.

If you come here solely for approval you will run into problems. Someone doesn't like your stuff, good on them, doesn't affect you. Don't tell them not to comment.

@alex - Keep up the good work. Any plans to track this one?

More pics Alex!
We are missing you a lot up here.

PS I was the one who pointed out the bottom-right feature. :)
Primarily because I was surprised to see it and thought the tombstone would have had the little 5-spd logo on the corner. I am thinking of a different part.

All of this mess is probably just because we're hungry for mo' pics. :D
How was your move? Will the two of you be up to Sydney or at least up to Wakefield? Sorry I couldn't be at your place on the recent Saturday. Such is life!

Alright, I have kept my head out of this for obvious reasons, but it has gotten to the point where I have had enough.

This car and most of its modifications are something that Gerard and I came up with in 2009. From the colour to the carbon we discussed it all, so naturally I have built the car the way we always planned, it is an ongoing tribute to him and everything we were lucky enough to share.
You can pick it to pieces all you like, I’m not overly fussed. Maki is not designed to please the masses, only myself and I am really proud of all that I have achieved in the process. There have also been some great people who have helped me out for sure.! Between my Dad, Bensale, Ben Sinclair and more friends than I can name this car wouldn’t be halfway finished and they all know how appreciative I am of their help, ideas and consult.

What I have had enough of, is this crap happening here. The sub texted comments, the belittling of peoples achievements and the general attitude that it is ok to post obnoxious comments because “trolling” has some level of social approval.

Why would I bring my car to Garage Cafe after the way certain people have reacted?
Anyway on with life.

Move went well, I will be back up in Sydney for a few friends birthdays and such. Of course I'll be at wakefield =) WTAC is up soon so I'll be around for that too!

I'm missing Wednesday nights and chilling with everyone!

Tyres are Ku31s 195/50/15s and the SSRs are 15x8 +6 and +12
They arent too stretched, but next set of tyres will probs be 205s

Because the majority of people are genuinely interested in what you are doing with your car and are keen to see you settled well in Melbourne. :)
Cheers and welcome.
Greg.
Money cannot buy style. (Seen on a Punk Rockers 'T' shirt some years ago.)
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Because you're a true MX-5 enthusiast who has the respect of many in the Aussie MX-5 and motorsport community. You should be proud of what you have achieved and i'm sure Gerard would love how you've built Maki.

It's been ages since I was at Garage Cafe but there's so many great people in the Victorian Club and on the forum who you should meet, don't let the keyboard warriors scare you off, they probably need to spend more time behind the wheel instead of spreading hate from the glow of their computer screen.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
