Tempe Tyres

Postby kayye » Thu Mar 22, 2012 4:29 pm

Hey guys I recently bought a set of Volk te37's from tempe tyres and im wondering if tempe tyres sell fake wheels as this set came WITH centrecaps but no stickers on the rims...

they were also relatively cheap as a brand new set of te37 and tyres at only 1200$

Tempe sell wheels.
I don't think they do any research into real/fake/etc, they just order from their suppliers and re-sell.
(worth noting.... nowhere on their site does it say they're a supplier of Rays wheels)

Did they tell you they were GENUINE Rays/Volk TE37 ?

regardless, for brand new TE37 with tyres at $1200, either they're not Rays TE37s, or Tempe are selling the real thing for under cost price and losing money on each sale.

I'd be asking them for some proof of purchase. Ask them to show you how they are genuine perhaps.

Tempe dont sell Rays Volks. They sell Ravs Yolks. And also star corps that look similar.

If you have a look at the back of the wheel, it will answer the question much better.

As Pam said, check the reciept.

Here's the Rays pricelist, direct from Rays:
http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/cgi-bin/cgi ... lName=TE37

The CHEAPEST TE37 is a 13x5 for 37,000 yen. That's $426au EACH = $1704 for a set of 13s

15x7 = 49,000Y = $564au = $2,256 set

If you've got a set for $1,200 with tyres, they're either fake, Tempe have sold them at a loss, or they're used.

I would 100% insist on a reciept, and ask them to clarify again.

edit:
Note, those prices are Japanese retail, and do not include any shipping.
Wholesale price would be lower, but I doubt it would be $1,000 lower, adn when you include shipping as well.... you can see where this is going.

edit edit:
Just noticed, you have an NC yes?
so probably got 17s? (even more expensive)

I've already come to terms with the fact that its probably a replica, but what can you do... :frown:

just hoping that it doesn't interfere with the handling too much...

as long as they are round wheels, which i'm sure they would be. then they will not interfere with your handling.

As long as you bought alloys they'll be fine.

If the invoice says "TE37 replica LEAD EDITION" then they might be a bit heavy :P

Even at $1200 with tyres I would be bloody unhappy to be mis-sold something like that. Heck $1200 IS a lot of money. If you are not happy there is no way they can refuse a refund under these circumstances.

$1,200 is not too bad for replicas, eg. 15" Rotas go for $750-$900 a set. It depends on what tyres you got to ascertain the value of $1,200.

As mentioned, Rays/Volk have appropriate stickers (which should be under the clear coat and not something you stick on yourself) and stampings all over, and if that is what you asked for specifically and told specifically, then get a refund. If they refuse, which they will, then tell them you'll take legal action.

Yeah I'm fuming, but when I asked them they said that their sales rep probably said something like "it's 'real' from OUR supplier".

Legal action would cost way too much for me at the moment so there's not much I can do in regards to this.
