Has anyone tried using Plasti Dip?

Just a heads up having used this for a few things already, it's only rated to 200oF or roughly 93oC which is fine for most things anyway. Also brake dust will eat it.

Has brake dust eaten the finish or do you keep the wheels squeeky clean?

Actually, Mr Morlock's point is sound.

He's saying that Paints don't stick to chrome very well, and they peel off over time.
Since this paint is designed to peel off, I imagine it's more likely to lift at the edges and look crap after a while.

The point of the product is because its so easy to remove from chrome when your over it. It's obvious because of the design process.

Not quite sure what you were getting at, but it seems odd to design a product that deliberately comes off or is of low durability.

I had a look at the local distributor's presentation:

•PLASTI DIP® resists moisture, acids, abrasion, weathering, electrical shock, skidding/slipping, corrosion. Non-skid grit can also be added.
•PLASTI DIP® won’t peel, chip or crack!

It doesn't actually mention removability.

So it might be both durable and removable.

You actually need a bit of effort to remove the plastidip as it adheres quite well. I've had it on my wheels for the past few month and the plastidip is still on it with no cracks. The brake dust hasn't eaten into the paint but it is sure hard to get off if you let it sit there. I would suggest to hose the wheels down and give them a scrub at least once a week. But that's if your brakes produce a lot of dust.. If they produce minimal amounts of dust, I cannot see any problems..

As already mentioned, you need to be very careful using this stuff. Even if you're using it outdoors, you should at the very least also have a fan operating which blows air away from you. Even better is to wear a proper half-face respirator fitted with a proper organic gases and vapours filter. You can get them at Bunnings ... $35 for the respirator and $18 for a pair of filters, or there is a combined kit for $43. Don't skimp, this stuff is very nasty if you breath it in.

The good news is that the product is inert and non-toxic when cured.

Srsly though, I work for a power company and we take the whole OH&S thing pretty seriously, which is probably why i tend to drone on about stuff like that. I might not know you but that means I'm more likely to not want you to die a horrible death.

I've heard a few reports that plasti dip is much harder to remove from wheels that have been through a few heat cycles, usually from track use.
