On the blue dyno-queen? or something else?
Do you know much about his cars? I hear about it and see it (the blue with side graphics) every now and again, but never on any club runs or track days.
It's interesting he would choose Haltech over "better" ones given the copious $$ he spends on his car.
I know Steve and the cars reasonably well - He helped me out a lot in the early days of turbocharging my NA, and I still hassal him all the time for bits and pieces as do a few members here.
Im believe he went with Haltech based on the recommendation of his tuner - the tuner has had a lot of input into everything this time around to make sure it all works well together and is drivable and enjoyable - Despite how clean he keeps his Mazdas they both get dríven on the street which is why I mentioned them here.
The blue 'dyno-queen' is no longer blue and has basically had a ground up rebuild. I was in the passenger seat of that car in the mountians just a couple of weeks ago - WOW it's fast, maybe too fast for me.
It's been to a few NSW club events and I believe won Best Modified the year he entered it in concours? He also drove it in street car of the year at least once and I'm sure a bunch of members here have seen it in the flesh at tech days in NSW.
Reading back over that, it sounds a little defensive - Not quite my intention, just showing that his cars do get dríven cause if they didn't and really were dyno queens, then mentioning how nicely they run on any ECU would seem silly.
