Re: Twinlol's '1337' NB8B (build thread)
Big update to come soon, also, bad news.
The other day went to get a McFlurry from Maccas, Reverse car into park, go inside get my desert, come outside, sh__ bricks when I see front of car. Turns out somebody just reversed their tow ball into the car just above the fog light. A bloke standing nearby says, "you're lucky mate, they left a note" -- So I go get the note from under the wiper, it's just a bunch of squiggly lines to make it look like they wrote a note, presumably so nobody took their details. -- nobody got numberplate :\
So now I'm left with a gouge out of the front bar and a scrap piece of paper.
If anybody sees a really low red VN commodore with green paint on the tow-bar, let me know. Can't promise you wont be an accessory though!
Will post pics when I can stomach looking at the front of car.
Mates say its not bad, but really sucks for me, definitely didn't budget for this right now.
Other stuff includes the new intake from DDM works and some dress up stuff from Christmas. - Ill post that along with the other stuff shortly, - sorry for length between updates. Just felt like venting about clowns that cannot drive and can't take responsibility for their mistakes.

Twinlol, sheepish and honkyrider3 all have SMB's with resonators. They seem to be very happy with the sound yet you are chasing a mid-pipe sans resonator. What, it's not loud enough already?
You must like your aural porn extremely hardcore
Mine is now resonator-less. Even more pron now.
Sorry to hear, Adrian. Hope you find the car/driver and get him to pay though chances are quite slim.

In an ideal world, you would go to the cops who would look at the Maccas videotapes to get the rego.

that's sad to hear.
it is a criminal offence to leave the scene of an accident without exchanging details. like bruce suggests, go to the police!
i was walking back to my car this morning, when i saw an old ford falcon side swipe a honda jazz's mirror. she pulled over to the side of the road, made sure her car was ok, and was about to flee the scene until she saw me wave down her car to stop. people these days

Sorry to hear about the damage, there's a good chance that maccas had a camera out there, better to contact them (with the exact date/time) sooner in case the write over that footage.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Sorry to hear that mate, sh*t happens. If the police can get the video tape that would put a scare into him/her. Otherwise stake out Maccas in the hope that the car returns and then follow it home and you get the idea, no vigilante action was ever encouraged by me. Stick to Okibis idea.

Re: Twinlol's '1337' NB8B (build thread)
It has been over a year now, so I should probably provide another update.
Car is still going along very well, no notable problems.
SMB exhaust/DDM works intake is still pretty much the best part of my day when I hear it.
I"ll upload a sound clip of it under acceleration soon, I tried once before, but the buffeting from the wind was horrid, and with the roof up you couldn't hear all the great crackles and popping from the exhaust on the shift/deceleration.
I'm getting married in November, so I'm saving for that, but I'm going to make one last push for some more mods before I spent my cash on the wedding/honeymoon and moving towns as I finish UNI.
I'm getting a Sparco Sprint Vseat, I need something to hold me in a little better through the corners. I really wanted one of their carbon fibre S seats (@$4000) ... can't really justify that though.
The Sprint V comes well recommended from numerous MX5CT members, So I'll take your word for it!
The same goes with the coil-overs I'm chasing, I originally wanted to fit Tein Flex to the car, but based on the recommendations of MX5CT members, I'm going to give Yellowspeeds a go.
If its good enough for Mx5 Mania's 'Goldie' it should do for my street/future track use.
Really excited to be finishing UNI, it will mean moving houses and getting a garage so I can really get to work on the car.
Sorry for the picture-less update, I'll post some on the weekend, I just thought it was long past time I checked in here.

Re: Twinlol's '1337' NB8B (build thread)
Yellowspeed Dynamics @ 45mm F/R - Scrubs so bad at the front, it is causing some pretty crazy understeer over bumps when cornering. Dampening is set at 12 front 8 rear for the moment. I wouldn't really want it much harder on the street. Inquiring about a guard roll tomorrow. Funnily enough, the rears do not scrub even though I can't even fit my finger in straight between the tyre and the guard, must just have that little bit extra clearance inside the wheel well than the fronts.
When it isn't scrubbing over bumps, the car handles even more like a go-kart than before, so flat through the corners and very stable. Overall, I'm ecstatic, just need to get rid of this scrubbing. - Don't want to make the ride height higher cause I'm happy with the cars stance. -Even though I pretty much can't get over anything - The round-a-bout on the way to my work is a no go zone, - not only is it a high bump (over 10cms high) but it is also like half a meter wide, surely this must violate some sort of road building rule since most sports cars at even stock height struggle with it.
The new seat is pretty amazing too, I feel like I can corner so much faster now that I am not struggling to hold myself in the seat. I haven't dríven in the seat over a long distance yet, but so far I find it so much more comfortable than stock. -Probably due to the extra support.
Getting in and out is a bit of fun though
Trying to convince my friend Sheepish to get a roll bar with me, that is the next thing on the list. -Hoping to import a Hard Dog bar from the states.
After that, I"ll be selling the DDMworks intake and going to a ITB setup. -Nothing wrong with the DDM works setup, I love it, but I really one to get some ITB's because they sound amazing.

Nice stance. What is the wheel centre to arch measurement. I am targeting 300mm frt and 325 rear.

Hey Bootz, I just measured it for you from the top of the wheel arch to the wheel centre, it was about 290mm front and 295mm rear. It requires some adjustment however after the work to put them in I'm in no mood to fix it for a week or two!

Dyno tune and install at Mania on the 11th April, along with some more go fast bits
Looking forward to seeing how much the car makes before and after.
Hopefully I'll be able to afford high compressionness before the end of the year.
