I've read on this forum that the offset of the NC's wheel is 55. Both Mullins and Speedy Wheels offer alternative wheel options for the NC with offsets of either 45 or 40. Given that Mazda selected an offset of 55 is there a disadvantage in using wheels with an offset of 45 or 40?
With thanks from slowpoke

Re: NC wheel offsets
Offset varies with width. Are the new wheels the same width too?

Re: NC wheel offsets
45 is prolly the max offset you can run without rolling the guards.
Im running +45 on my NC as are a fair few other guys on here, no troubles at all...sits flush with the guard and look sweeet!

Re: NC wheel offsets
Thanks for your replies Jeo and Regie. I'm wanting to change wheel size from 17x7 to 15 inch. The wheels in question are either a Speedy Wheel 15x6.5 ET 40 offset or an ET 38 offset. Or a Mullins 15x6 ET 45 offset.

Re: NC wheel offsets
Note that going to a smaller wheel may be illegal depending on state rules.

15" rims won't fit. The smallest you can go is 16" to clear the brake caliper.
I'm sure that you're looking at NB rims not NC. Make sure the pitch is 5 x 114.2mm not 4 x 100mm.
