Any suggestions on best place to buy?

How about FHRX Studios :D hehe

Other great subwoofer options are the Peerless XXLS and Seas L26 from my experience (in the case of the Peerless) and research (in the case of the Seas).

$350 for the Morel Ultimo SC from FHRX. That's a good price I think. It will be interesting to hear it against the Clarion.
I'm expecting quite a difference. I wish I had your Brax X2400.2 to drive it. Keep your eyes peeled for a killer amp for me....

Wow, that's a really good price!!! I would have expected about $500-$600. The regular Ultimo is probably the most accurate car audio sub I've heard, so if it sounds anything like the normal version (which it should) then it will sound amazing :)

Only speakers I've heard that sound more accurate then the Ultimo is probably the Peerless. Still I can't say 100% because I haven't done a proper back-to-back comparison, but the Peerless I'm using right now is the cleanest and most accurate sub I've heard.

That said, the Peerless is an acquired taste - it has an extremely linear frequency response up to frequencies higher then a 10/12 inch sub has any right to, and it's one of the lowest distortion subwoofers on the market at any price. These are all technically great characteristics but not everyone is acustomed to that type of sound. Many people like a sub that has a more aggressive or 'dynamic' character to the sound, wheras the Peerless is pure transparent. It pretty much takes what the source feeds it and reproduces it exactly.

I wish "I" had my Brax to run my speakers off...I miss it :(

If you want a nice amp for not too rediculous a price, both the DLS Reference and JL Audio Slash amps are very nice. I think you can pick either up for around the $700-$800 mark, but might get one much cheaper if you get lucky on the second hand market. The Focal FP series amps are also very nice, and I think they've had a massive price drop recently too - FHRX sells these.

I know it looks standard BUT you have to admit the MD unit is quite rare and it took ages to find one :)

My head unit is wired to my clutch also. It has the switch also so it can be activated and totally deactivated for daily use.

Hi All

Just purchased a Kenwood double DIN unit, didnt bother with Navigation, but thought I would post some pics... I am pretty happy with the unit, sound is great, and goes really well with the Clearwater speakers I have fitted. (Hey I am old and only have anologue ears :-))

Can add a TV tuner, or Playstation or.... many other possibilities.. the unit itself was only $588....
