Also if you don't clamp it tight before welding, and if you put too much heat into it you will warp the flanges and have leaks. There are New style v-bands that have a male female locator, much much easier to line up...

Bump with pics from just now of all the gear waiting the last few bits to arrive in the post. The water lines and return.
I cant wait for results,

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
I only ran it once because it was on during fit up. Sounds awesome.
Not as loud as one would guess due to the turbo.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
you should should put a flex bit in that dump pipe somewhere ! my whole exhaust is tight and uses every stock hanger and STILL the turbo to manifold nuts wriggle loose
just about to buy the flyin miata nut locking system....... its the engine twisting on and off throttle thats causing the probs.
Also like the flyin miata and greddy turbo kits im gunna make a bracket that holds the dump firm with the engine. These generally bolt onto the tow side gearbox bolts and then exhaust clamp around the dump.
Your crazy running only one muffler ! ha ha ha im a drifter and even i run two! maybe im getting old! Sick fab work man.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Cheers man.
Budget build, we will see how the exhaust goes, my car has had no issues in 2 years with no flex and it twists hard enough to have broken 3 engine mounts in that time.
If it turns out to want a flexi join one can be added later, the one muffler, well its turbo, so its not that bad, this is not a daily we are talking about here.
Ive told him that he might want a resonator added later, but all that increases the cost. This setup will work, and produce some serious mumbo, and be reliable. You would be surprised how cheap this setup is, the people who have PMd me sure were.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
MASSIVE thanks to Joe for being so patient.
If I were building 5 setups at a time it wouldnt be so bad because Id buy 5 of everything, but its the little bits and pieces that count. Theres about 30 seperate components just involved in the water and oil lines for example, and then theres a full set of brand new studs and locknuts, and then gaskets etc etc. Lots of running around.
Note the house keys for size reference of the downpipe. Im actually really happy with how professionally presented it all looks.
Thanks,
Dann
