Re: NatMeet 2012 - Canberra ACT
Time is ticking down to NatMeet 2012 in Canberra at Easter.
At the moment we have around 130 people coming from all over Australia to have a great time, catch up with old friend and make new ones. We can still accommodate up to another 10 people, so if you’re thinking of coming, get in now.
Go here : http://www.mx5.com.au/Natmeet2012/index.htm
We have lots of treats and prizes for the competitive parts of the event, being Concours, Show & Shine, Funkhana and the track day at Wakefield.
Need a set of new tyres? Guess what? Compete in the track event and put in the most consistent times in the regularity session and you may just win them.

NatMeet 2012 - Canberra ACT
Silly question but does the $545 cover accommodation or is it just for participation and meals
With two laps to go then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is.

Covers participation and meals (apart from the track day lunch).
Doesn't cover accommodation or the track day itself.

The scenic twisty route to Canberra has been planned. All we have to do now is drive it.

Re: NatMeet 2012 - Canberra ACT
It is very close now
Be sure to check http://livetraffic.rta.nsw.gov.au/desktop.html for road closures. There are many now in NSW as the waters move and those nice windy roads will probably get hardest hit.
The surprise to me was that brown mountain is closed from bega to bemboka and wont open for a while as the road has 'disappeared down the mountain' http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2012/03/05/3446001.htm. Possibly causing the extra traffic down the clyde which has seen some nasty accidents on the weekend.
Also canberra has point to point cameras now ! Unless the gps is updated in the last couple of months, it may not show it.
Be careful and safe and try not to turn right into the folk festival. Unless you wear flowers in your hair.

Good point. Are there any more in addition to the set on Hindmarsh Drive? Link.
The point-to-point cameras in NSW (including Federal Highway between Hume Highway and Collector), are only for heavy vehicles.

Re: NatMeet 2012 - Canberra ACT
But with Easter and as the locals know, Goulburn will be teaming with radar all the way to the border. It really is not worth it to play that game. Come out to wakefield for a spin and at least it is legal.
As for the point to point, I think that is the only one at the moment but there are plans for more. Canberra will have the van cameras out and the unmarkers. Saw a car the other day which was 20 years old with the lights flashing.
And they love to sit out on the cotter for a sunday and catch the bikes. Just forewarning as the gumbyment needs new useless artwork and wants money to pay for it.
And of course there is the safety issue. Everyone would have heard of the tragedies and it is a town with only a few roads in.

Re: NatMeet 2012 - Canberra ACT
Thanks for the tips and links chaps - very handy. I noticed all those point to point things on a trip to Canberra last month. Here's hoping there are no more wild weather events for a few months at least.

Has the venue for the Concours d’Elegance been finalised? Are the public invited to look or is it for natmeet participants only?

Concours and Show & Shine competition is for NatMeet entrants only. However, the general public are welcome/encouraged to peruse the cars and have a chat. The venue is Patrick White Lawns between the National Library and Lake Burley Griffin. It's on the morning of Saturday 7th April.
