Bilstein Front Shocks Question
Does anyone know why the front bilstein shock have an L shaped piece of metal at the bottom?

If I remember correctly it's a bracket to hold an ABS sensor (or something to do with ABS/brakes anyway)

Yep abs sensor wire
MY07 NC, Mazdaspeed Body, Ohlins, Full GWR Exhaust, 17x9 RPF1's, 4.1FGR and lots lots more

Those two tabs would weigh less than a singlet, plus when you go and sell it, you've removed any NB owners out of the market.

NB8B onwards so mid 2000ish

If you shave it off is it considered unsprung weight savings yes no? if you cut the spring shorter would that be considered un-sprung weight savings, maybe that would be more worthwhile?
Sometimes I'm not sure if the cable ties I use to hold my abs sensor weigh less, than the flimsy bit of metal because the really thin cable ties arnt long enough to wrap around the shock body. I had to use the thicker longer cable ties that weigh more, but what else could I do I had already cut it off the flimsy bit of metal ( I did cut off the little tail of excess cable tie with some satisfaction). I know string should weigh less than cable tie but if it gets wet then you would carry additional weight every time it rains and I don't think I could live with that.
I always think as you approach 0 grams you can approach the speed of lite

Almost right. The 10AE was the only NB8A that had ABS (2 channel not 4 like the NB8B).
