Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Nice work!
Also love the discussion on the log manifolds, it's something I wanted to build my self when I go FI and glad to know that they work well for our application (under 300hp). Was thinking of using the standard SR20 turbos as they come up for sale cheap and often.
With this sort of setup, is it worth getting the manifold ceramic coated?

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
That IS a used (though GCG rebuilt) SR20 turbo.
As for ceramic coating, it makes it rustproof, and helps a lot with engine bay heat control. Though I doubt you will get a noticeable performance improvement on this manifold.
When are you looking at doing it Pham?

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Not too sure yet, sometime this year though. Also want to get my ITB build on the way soon and have some more track time with that while I slowly collect parts and tools (mainly a welder), too busy these days to rush any thing.
Might have a chance to pick up a cheap BP engine, so not sure what to do about that yet either...
Starting to miss turbo engines

Cheap BP? Easy as.
As for the welder, either buy a good one like mine, or hire a mig, tack the manifold and have someone who is good weld it up.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Quick build update.
Ive decided against using a braided stainless oil feed line.
For a few reasons.
As dweezle found out, getting a universal one and a multitude of fittings sucks. The hose will never be the right length either.
Braided hoses suck, actually, non oem flexible hoses suck. They flop around, end up ziptied everywhere, and braided ones slowly saw your car in half.
This is the reason I use a TIG welded hardpipe for all reroutes, not the regular floppy universal water hose. Its strong, lasts forever, stays put on its own and looks professional.
So heres the oil feed line.
Not as exciting looking as 4 feet of coiled up braid, and anodized fittings everywhere, but this is how Mitsubishi chooses to feed Evos, how Ferrari chose to feed the F50... etc etc. I think you get it. The pipe will be bent into place when its fitted onto the car.
It looks oem, it works oem, it has oem reliability, and supports itself like oem. Win, win, win, win- in my book.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
I like that!
I assume there would be no issue with flex as the engine and turbo can not move independently??

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Braided stainless. Theres nothing near the return, and as its a thick vertical hose it doesnt need supporting, SS drains are never an issue.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
And some more...
Thoughts, questions?
Still to do..
Fit cat to exhaust, finish dump pipe, air filter..
Thats about it.
Dann
Edit: At this rate, someone might actually buy this engine
