Similar.

MHJ bought a red NA with a Toyota V8
The carsales one is a Blue NB with a Holden/Chev V8

I think they were both built by the same guy though.

Yeah, both built by John Pitt of Wheelers Hill, Vic. Still John's for sale ad, so don't know what the story was. Perhaps the potential buyer didn't have permission &/ or funds. Think the ad was taken down for a little while, as vaguely recall not seeing it stand out when looking under Custom cars.

Hey guys

so they car is coming out of the paint shop and due to the fact that it is a kit car, the front bar is sitting really low. The problem rises as my bumper head lights and bonnet is one piece.

I opted for some ssr professors 15x8 +4, as i want to run something aggressive, but now it seems it is too small and my bonnet cant open now as its too low and it wont budge. I need to run atleast 17/18" but there is no chance of finding a low offset rim at that size with the current lugs of the na6.

So ive dont my research and decided that perhaps the best thing to do is either order custom wheels, OR perhaps do a rx7 diff and lug conversion.

Has anyone on this forum gone ahead with the rx7 diffs and 5 lug set up on their miata that could help me?

Cheers

What about these SSRs? They are the correct PCD for all MX5s, with the exception of the 2005+ NC

PS I have just re-read your post. You are saying that you need 17 or 18 inch rims because 15 inch is too small? I would have thought that in order to retain the standard gearing that you would be putting very low profile tyres on the bigger rims, and therefore would still have the same issue. Can you explain why being low is stopping you from opening your bonnet?

I will have to take a pic of the car at its current height.

The kit is obviously a kit car, in doing do the kit is not at the right proportion. Where i have them sitting now with the coil overs , its not at the lowest setting and i can't put my foot under the front bar.

The front bar is connected to the bonnet and headlights ( Front end is one piece), and the bonnet doesnt open like the typical car, rather the bonnet and bumper goes forward and i can only open it a bit before the lip hits the floor. In order to open the bonnet i have to jack the car up.. can you imagine if i get pulled over hahah

LOL sorry about that, i will have to take a pic.

While the kit isn't exactly to my taste, the workmanship and paint look to be top notch - nice job!

Thanks mate, yeah i dont expect anyone to like the kit, as i dont even like it myself. It was inherited and i thought id finish it off since it has been sitting in bad shape for 4 years. Check out my build post if you want the story ahha.

Still having front bar issues? I had stretched tyres over the rims, in sure a larger tyre such as a 225 with a beefy sidewall would help.

Hayden- are you talking about profile or width as well?

Chino,

If you are wanting to provide more clearance to allow the bonnet to open then I can only think of 3 ways to achieve this;

1. Raise the overall height of the car, i.e raise the suspension with adjustable coilovers.

2. See if you can install different hinges that reduces the amout of clearance you need to open the bonnet.

3. Go for wider tyres while retaining the height ratio. An example is a 205/50/15 tyre/wheel combo will give a total wheel/tyre height of 587mm, and a 225/50/15 combo gives a total height of 607mm, an extra 20mm.

Use this calculator to give you an idea of what is possible.

Oh right-o Thanks for that, now i get where Hayden was coming from.

I already have coilovers in and im about to resort to that, but in doing so leave an ugly gap between the tyres and the gaurd. :frown:

hinge is a good idea!

Sorry for not explaining it (mobile reply), as Juffa said go from the 195/50 to a 225/50, you will gain some height.

I recommend the Hankook RS3, but if you just show the car, a cheaper alternative maybe possible.
