On Dweezles car, the top set of pics, it isnt a water cooled turbo.

The standard locations are tee'd into the heater pipe, and the front hose comes straight from the lower thermostat housing barbs.

Remember when the engine is off the only flow through is caused by heat rising. So it doesnt matter which feed goes where whatsoever.

Yep, ta.

Problem with mine is that both the hoses have high and low points so there will be sod all heat siphon. The rear hose is off the heater line which is OK except for the routing, the front goes to a header tank above the radiator but the hose has a section lower than the turbo. I think I'll redo the front line to tee off the thermostat cover and reroute both hoses to get a better gradiant from one to the other.

Sounds better. But id be surprised if the line levels make a difference, remember its a closed system.

If the water pushes upward, at the other end it pushes down, which will push upward at the bottom.

The loops might not stop siphon, but I'm guessing it will slow the flow if a section of the hose is slightly colder. Either way, a few tweaks should increase the efficiency of the system. Given that the bottom of the radiator should be the coldest part, I wonder if it is worth tapping the bottom tank for one of the feeds.

not sure it matters, its only there to cool it before the oil turns to soot.

Just having some water in it helps hugely.

Because the house renovation that has been in the planning / approval stage for the last 3 years starts tomorrow with digging for the foundations. So I thought flap it, I'm going racing as is this year and doing the conversion at the end of the year. So the MX-5 diff etc is back in and I’ll hopefully get it pre-season audited at the end of march and race in May.

By then, the house will have a new double garage and the existing carport will be extended to be the new 1 car garage / workshop /my dog house. It better be finished by then, because the car is currently in the back yard, and can't get out until my dog house is built and the fence comes down!

Besides all that, the entire racecar drivetrain will probably end up in the black car, so I may as well get it all sorted now.

It's a plan so cunning, that you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel (as Baldrick would say).

We now return to our normal programming..... back to you ND.

Hey guys,

Thought it would be appropriate for me to put a comment in this thread seeing the above turbo setup being built is for my car :D

Have to say if anyone is thinking of doing a turbo conversion for their MX5, Dann is the person you need to get to fabricate it for you.

His work is absolutely immaculate and his communication through the whole build process has been A1...

Can't wait for this to be completed...

Should also mention how much of a good bloke Dann is as he is also helping me with the complete installation.

Seriously, try to find B6 head flanges anywhere.

Pilliage the one from the stock manifold?

I may be mistaken, but I think rxmx may have a contact, although he may well be OS too.
