^^^^. From my first reply to you.
80 - 100 is the going rate.

They should be able to give you a print out of the settings used.

Ring the shop and ask them. If their not familiar with mx5s, take a comfort / street setup from here and give it to them to base line it with.

Did you end up replacing your old tyres? Did you get a wheel alignment done at the time or shortly after? If so, have you got the wheel alignment specs to refer to?

Had a chat to Sunshine Alignments at Palmwoods and he seems to know his stuff. Four wheels is $80 and he's happy to discuss settings I bring.
I haven't yet found definitive settings and every place I look is different as well as mixing up inches,mm., and degrees. I can't afford to go back and say "let's experiment some more"......would love to get it right first time!
Even hks_kansei isn't sounding too sure.
How does this sound ? FRONT Castor 5 deg
Camber -1.2 deg.
toe in 1/32" (? 1.5 mm or ? Deg.)per side
REAR Castor 5 deg
Camber -1.5 deg
Toe in 1.5mm per side
Tires currently will stay ...front as new (205/45 16) rear half down but ok.
Will replace rear with KU 31 same size when due..

Silvia, I bet you're after a setting that're easy to drive around with, you're not interested in cornering at 10/10ths, or attacking the track. :D

If so here's the setting to get your aligner to dial in.

Front
Camber: 0.8 degrees negative
Castor: Maximum he can get (probably in the 5 – 5.6 range)
Toe: 1.5mm IN each side (3mm total) not out as you said in your post above.

Rear
Camber: 1.3 degrees negative
Toe: 1.5mm IN each side (3mm total)

There's no castor on the rear.

I'm guessing that you normally drive around with two of you in the car. Make sure he dials in the same settings either side. For example not 1mm toe in on the left and 2mm toe in on the right to make the 3mm total. The toe in must be the same either side as does the other settings.

Oh, so you're still running on those 6 year old hard tyres, i.e. "DEB 4006", made in the 40th week of 2006: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=50812&p=638020&hilit=+DEB+4006+#p638020

So your fronts are not "as new", & the rears while "half down but ok", are not "ok".

Glad someone else thought there was some insanity going on here.

I wonder if this thread will become longer then the tire thread trying to find alignment specs, despite many suggestions and then finally end up with no change.

Maybe Silvia found just changing the tire pressure worked and never reported back?

Or maybe its all just subtle trolling?

thanks CB for some clarity on the subject....I'd say "sporty street driving" is the aim.

 93, I had the tyres checked out and the verdict was that as the tyres had been out of the light (under a cover in a basement) normal deterioration had not occurred and they are in good condition. And this guy would love to sell me his tyres. As there is a $680 investment involved I'm inclined to go with that....
I'll try to wear out the rears asap and get new tyres on

HOW GOOD WILL IT BE In FUTURE....when people can check and see..
Sporty street driving? (I imagine the most interest category)
Here you go, these are the correct settings to go for.....

These are the respected "Lanny's Settings" from Miata.net
Rear
Toe: 1/32 inch (0°4.5' or 0.075°) IN per side
Camber: -1.75 degrees

Front
Camber: -1.2 degrees
Caster: 5.0 degrees
Toe: 1/32 inch IN per side

Assuming 1/32" is close to 1.5mm it helps to confirm things

So unsurprisingly, you're rejecting what you don't want to hear, i.e. all 9 pages of it on here less than two months old, 7 pages of which you initiated, & 2 pages of which you contributed to, for what you want to hear from someone else, who may or may not be experienced or qualified to comment. Not that everyone here is experienced or qualified to comment, but the concensus was clear:

7 pages: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=50812

2 pages: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=51194

Yes, many thanks to all who contributed to the most interesting discussions. I think many are learning so much here...I know I have!
If the chat goes on a bit long for some....well, plenty of other places to go

No one is learning anything, these are repeat topics.

A noob comes on every week and starts these topics.

This has been discussed so many times Dann...as recently as last week, and you still can't hear it!
There are "noobs" asking old questions all the time .This is their right - and what the forum is for. Older members getting irritated about this is just a form of ego and snobbery and lowers the quality of help from the forum. We'd all hoped you gotten this message but no the same old drivel repeats!
Answer the question helpfully if you can..... or move on, please!
Just because it was discussed earlier doesn't mean people can't benefit from it again..

Selective learning is like selective listening. You're literally & figuratively a tyre kicker!

We don't give a sh!t what you end up doing as it's your car & your money, but full disclosure is useful if you want to optimise the advice you receive & not waste forumites' time.

Indeed, there are plenty of other places to go, but I'm certain you'd burn your bridges there also.

Silvia, you throwing stones at dan while standing in your glass house.

Its not that you ask the question, its that you take no notice of the answer! I replied that you needed to get your wheel alignment checked and gave you somewhere to call.

But you completely ignored it, dismissing it due to ok tire wear on tires which you have had complaints about before!
